Woman admits to role in Justice Center fire set during Portland riot, receives probation

A 21-year-old Portland woman pleaded guilty this week to charges related to a fire set at the Multnomah County Justice Center during a September protest-turned-riot.

Hannah Karin Lilly was ordered to perform community service and pay $46,000 in restitution for “unlawfully, with intent, aiding and abetting 21-year-old Cyan Bass in damaging the Multnomah County Justice Center” in downtown Portland, the county’s District Attorney’s Office said in a statement Thursday.

Bass has pleaded not guilty to a series of charges. His trial is pending.

Lilly, who moved back to Portland last year to live with relatives during the pandemic and works as a part-time nanny, received 18 months of probation for one count of first-degree criminal mischief. She also pleaded guilty to a single count of arson in the first degree. She will be sentenced later for the arson charge.

The terms of her probation put restrictions on her right to attend demonstrations.

“The resolution of this case takes into account Lilly’s culpability to the actual damage done to the Multnomah County Justice Center and Lilly’s lack of criminal history prior to this incident,” the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office said.

The headline is misleading.
She hasn’t been sentenced yet for her part in arson.

And I seriously doubt she will be hired as a nanny anymore

Interesting that the paper never states what exactly the charge she plead guilty to was.

It sure wasn’t arson.

Looks like OR has mandatory minimum sentencing for First Degree Arson. Bet they’re trying to get out of giving it to her, hence the delay.

“She also pleaded guilty to a single count of arson in the first degree. She will be sentenced later for the arson charge.”

They usually leave open the sentencing for a crime to keep them on good behavior through their probation period. If she’s a naughty girl they can throw the book at her during her arson sentencing effectively locking her away pending trial for parole violation, new charges, etc.

Mom’s basement just took on a huge liability. Like a $46,000 losing stock option with unlimited upside loss potential. Truth to power.

FWIW, I don’t think that’s why they’re waiting. OR apparently has mandatory minimum sentencing for first degree arson. Et they’re trying to find a way around it, or just outright intend to ignore it and let her walk when they hope nobody’s notice.

I guess mom agreed to have this POS on probation in her now self styled half way house. The coppers should do unannounced searches there to ensure no violations like drug use or bomb making are present. If so violate the probation and send her to Mcneil island.

Yes, they could continue her arson sentencing until they drop it altogether but that’s usually done for a charge not a plea. I don’t know how it is in OR tho. In any event her life sucks right now and will continue to for years regardless if she goes to prison or not.

__________________________________________________

Now the publicity resulting from her arrest and sentence has enhanced her resume’ to enable her to acquire a do nothing government job at some level in the future. She has become a recognized veteran in the war against the capitalist regime. Nope! She will no longer need to work as a part time nanny.
