Infections among health care workers who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 are extremely rare, according to a new study.

Researchers examined data from employee health records of more than 36,600 health care workers in California and found that less than 1% tested positive for COVID-19 after being fully vaccinated...

...Of the 36,659 workers vaccinated, 379 tested positive after their first vaccine dose, with the majority of those individuals testing positive within two weeks of their first shot. After receiving both doses of the two-shot vaccine, 37 people tested positive, with the majority testing positive less than a week after their second dose. Only seven health workers tested positive 15 days or more after their second vaccination.

Not a single vaccinated health care worker who contracted COVID-19 was hospitalized or died and those who did get sick appeared to have milder symptoms ..

This is a big relief for me. Not only am I protected but now I don’t worry every shift about bringing it home to my family. All the front line workers in my family are vaccinated

Ah... But they get the new variant, or the ‘old’ variant?

Which brand, Pfizer or Moderna?

And do they issue you a wallet card with name, date, and vax type?

And less than 1% of all people without so called vaccine will be infected, which is ab odd turn of phrase, since they have been calling “positive test results “ “ cases”

Liars...

Impossible. All the antivaxxers assure us that the vaccines don't prevent infection, only symptoms. Surely they are right and this study is wrong. I mean c'mon, they saw it on youtube!

An effectiveness study published in JAMA says that you might still contract a variant, but symptoms and risk of hospitalization are still reduced by vaccination. Calif has 3 or 4 variants in circulation, B.1.427 and B.1.429 being of some concern. The California variant (direct from Wuhan) is running between 34-50% with the UK variant around 30%:

“The interim data from 2 randomized placebo-controlled vaccine studies, the rAd26 from Janssen and a recombinant protein from Novavax, offer some insight. The Janssen study included sites in the US, Brazil, and South Africa with efficacy against COVID-19 at 72%, 66%, and 57%, respectively.13 Novavax reported efficacy from studies in the UK and South Africa with overall efficacy of 89% and 60%, respectively.14 Viral sequence data from infected patients showed that the B.1.351 strain was responsible for the majority of infections in South Africa. Lower vaccine efficacy in the South Africa cohort could be related to antigenic variation or to geographic or population differences. Despite the reduced efficacy, the rAd26 vaccine was 85% effective overall in preventing severe COVID-19, and protection was similar in all regions.

These data suggest that current vaccines could retain the ability to prevent hospitalizations and deaths, even in the face of decreased overall efficacy due to antigenic variation.

...he recognition of a novel emergent variant, 20C/S:452R, in the most populous US state necessitates further investigation for implications of enhanced transmission. In particular, the L452R mutation in the spike protein could affect the binding of certain therapeutic monoclonal antibodies. The emergence of this and other new variants is likely to be a common occurrence until the spread of this virus is reduced”

https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2776542

“The US Department of Health and Human Services recently halted shipments of a Covid-19 antibody treatment to California, Nevada and Arizona, where the variants are circulating widely.

The agency cited concerns that the treatment, which is made by Eli Lilly and Company and called bamlanivimab, may be less effective against the strains.

Officials said that another Covid-19 therapy made by Eli Lilly, a combination of bamlanivimab and another drug, etesevimab, can still be ordered. Early results show the drug combination may significantly reduce the risk of hospitalization and death. A different antibody treatment made by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals was also not affected by the HHS action.

Pssshh don’t tell that to the Israelis they have 600,000 people faking it in their study. Only 21 people could be bothered to seek medical attention but thousands others must be hiding their sickness you know because the vax doesn’t work.

also now in California, Brazil variant found in Bay Area (Santa Clara - same place the community spread covid was first reported)

“.. P.1... can reinfect people who have already had other strains of the virus....P.1 was first identified in the United States in Minnesota at the end of January 2021, and 79 cases have since been detected in 18 other regions across the country, according to the CDC.”

Great just what we need more immigrants from the south...P1 is kicking Brazil’s tail right now 4000 a day are falling and half are under 40 that’s different from the other strains and the fact thag having the first version gives little if any protection against this bugger. 60% reinfection I saw in one study. That’s not good since the current vaccines use the spike proteins of the original version.

It’s getting bad ‘out there’ again. People in the US don’t realize how good we got it right now.

France is at critical stage - 200K cases per week again, Germany has lost control but pretending they havent. Belgium has closed all non-medical businesses, Poland shuttered, PI’s Manila under curfew lockdown, same as Chili, and India’s Mubai, Kenya shut schools, the list goes on...

Yeah the rest of the world does real lockdowns not the silk glove version the Americans get. We absolutely need to keep the variants out of the USA as much as possible until we have 70% vaccinated otherwise they will just ripe through us like they are ripping through Europe and Latin America. But travel bans are racist. Oh and Ebola is back in the Congo and guess what we have like 40 in Ohio on Ebola watch , 20 in Washington state as well why not ban travel into the USA from you know EBOLA HOTZONES

But why trust published research from controlled scientific studies when we all know the real info comes from conspiracy websites, anonymous message boards, and Youtube?!
