Announced today, Apple's program is designed to store some 240 megawatt-hours of energy — enough to power more than 7,000 homes for a day — at the company's 130-megawatt California Flats solar farm. The project is being hailed by the tech giant as one of the largest battery projects in the country.

According to documents filed with the Monterey County Board of Supervisors in 2020, and unearthed by The Verge, Apple plans to use 85 Tesla lithium-ion Megapacks as part of the initiative. Some of the energy stored in the batteries will reportedly be used to power Apple Park in Cupertino.

Does this idiocy excuse the land mass ruined by the solar farm in the first place?

Tesla is expected to take up residence in a 320,000-square-foot warehouse on Cajon Boulevard in northern San Bernardino, though details on the company's operations remain unclear.

According to a post on the city's official Facebook page, Tesla's facility is over 20 acres and includes more than 5,000 square feet of office space.,,

Elon Musk and the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority are presently in negotiations on the construction of an underground people-mover from the Metrolink train station in Rancho Cucamonga to Ontario International Airport.

Coal fired plants can produce 236 Gigawatts, as opposed to the California Flats solar farm producing a mere 240 Megawatts

Coal and gas powered plant need 12.21 and 12.41 acres of land per Megawatt respectively

Solar needs 43.5 acres to produce the same Megawatt.

Wind is worse at 70.64 acres

Intel will soon be cut out of Apple's processor supply chain as the tech giant moves to in-house silicon designs for Mac, but the chipmaker is looking to claw its way back in as a third-party manufacturer. Intel on Tuesday announced it will invest some $20 billion to build a pair of chip fabs in Ocotillo, Arizona, with plans to dedicate at least a portion of the output to a new foundry subsidiary, reports CNBC.

The Justin Long fiasco was, well, a fiasco. Figures it would flop. Long was not only disliked by Windows users in the first place, and for years, Mac-inclined computer users never liked be associated with him in the first place. :^) Trying honey *after* vinegar is the sign of a flailing, desperate management. Nice job ****ing up a free lunch.

Yeah, that’s a shame.

China will be happy to use coal-based energy to manufacture photovoltaic cells, so it’ll all work out fine, y’know, for everyone on the take from China.

The megapack is 24ft x 5.5ft and weighs 51,000 lbs.

Expected life is 10-15 years. The ethylene glycol coolant and pumps have to be serviced every 5 years.

After 15 years the batteries have to be returned to Tesla for recycling. Nobody else in the world is capable.

And nobody has made Tesla go on the record with their recycling process and the final disposition of any leftover materials from that process.

Green energy.

Imagine 1,000 of the 51,000lb batteries in one place. Coolant motor in one goes bad...it blows...chain reaction.

That’s a big bang. Like St. Helens.
