The Queen stoically returned to royal duties yesterday, four days after the death of her husband the Duke of Edinburgh.

The monarch, 94, hosted a retirement ceremony for the former Lord Chamberlain Earl Peel on Tuesday.

It comes after her husband of 73-years, Prince Philip, passed away aged 99 on Friday at Windsor Castle.

That is the stiff upper lip attitude I love. Earl Peel is a direct descendent of Sir Robert Peel. Peel was Prime Minister during the 1840. Looks like the Peel family climbed up the pole from Baronet to Earl.

i have no doubt it helps the Queen stay on an even keel to be helping others by lending her presence. and i imagine she had a personal interest in honoring this individual. she continues to set the best possible example.
