Victoria, May 5: After witnessing a rise in coronavirus (COVID-19) cases over the past few days, Seychelles, known as the world's most vaccinated nation, has announced fresh restrictions. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Seychelles Health Minister Peggy Vidot said the country will close down all schools, public places, and cancel all sporting events. The restrictions may remain in place till May 24.
Seychelles Public Health Commissioner Jude Gedeon said that nearly 65 percent of the active COVID-19 cases were those who have not been vaccinated or have received only one dose. "There are currently 1,068 active cases numbers, among which 84 percent are Seychellois and 16 percent are foreigners," she was further quoted by the Seychelles News Agency as saying.
Jude Gedeon also said President Wavel Ramkalawan will hold a meeting close to May 24 when a decision on whether to lift the restrictions would be taken. Seychelles, which has a population of around 98,000, has administered the COVID-19 vaccine to 62 percent of its citizens, the most for any nation in the world, Sputnik News reported. Vaccines, developed by China's Sinopharm and British-Swedish pharma giant AstraZeneca.
Seychelles, located off the coast of Africa, was among the first countries in the world to reopen to international tourism after the first COVID wave last year. Recently, the tourist-reliant country revised its guidelines for foreign arrivals and said only vaccinated visitors from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, who have completed two weeks after their second dose, are permitted to enter the island nation with proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

My sister turns 73 tomorrow was vaccinated when it first became available and has had 3 ER visits since a week ago this passed Sunday.
ER 1) Cluster of mini-strokes possibly caused by blood clots. Tested for Covid-Negative...released w/medication
ER 2) Extreme pain in all joints. Again, possibly caused by blood clots. Tested for Covid-Negative...released w/medication
ER 3) Last night, again mini-strokes, no reason given yet. Tested for Covid-Positive...she has now been placed in isolation.
With all the lies that the media, government and medical community have given us, how can they ever regain any semblance of credibility with the public?
Stronger vaccines given at shorter intervals should get things rolling.

Nothing you just posted will change the minds of at least a third of Freepers who are Vaccine fans. They think you are lying or hiding the real facts or most likely just won’t care because it’s just one person.
Damn shame and I hope she recovers. We have a friend who just developed Bells palsy after her 1st shot.

That *IS* still disconcerting. One would not expect the vaccines to work this poorly. In what sense do we call them vaccines? We need another term for this.

I laugh at Covid. Just got it for the 2nd time last week and I feel fine...
Again, for the umpteenth time, vaccine is NOT a suit made of steel. No vaccine stops virus from entering the body and infecting it.
Obviously many have not learned role of vaccines, which is to create anti-bodies. So, when virus invades the body, it is better prepared to fight the virus. That significantly improves odds of NOT getting extremely sick, and thus recover back to health.
a very sick person expels much more virus than an asymptomatic infected person.

You and I were lucky. 565,000 Americans not so lucky. I got infected on a cruise ending Feb 29, 2020 when covid was not in news. Being very healthy 80 year old all I had was dry cough for 2 weeks.
Not sure which one. Her daughter said two shots.
We live in different states and too far for me to drive anymore so I’m getting info 2nd hand.
She was not in the best of health before, mainly back problems and commensurate lack of exercise and like any senior more than 5lbs. overweight, had been diagnosed as pre-diabetic.
