Police had called in a bomb squad after a tip led them to seize some 5,000 pounds (2,268 kilograms) of illegal home-made and China-manufactured pyrotechnics at about noon, police said.
Pallet-loads of fireworks were placed into an LAPD tractor-trailer and hauled away for disposal but at some point, some of the devices that had been placed inside an armored container on an LAPD big-rig exploded in a burst of flame, demolishing the truck. The blast, caught by news crews, also knocked a nearby car on its side, smashed the windows of several others and blew out windows in a neighboring home.

The pros also caused the Gold King mine waste water spill, drove the Titanic into an iceberg, etc etc... Being a pro doesn’t make you infallible. It might mean that when you eventually screw up (and we do, we’re human) it will be spectacular.
Not the part of town ya want to be in.
I bet everyone within 1/4 mile of the detonation fell down and now have significant injuries, trauma etc..
Sure should bring to question all the times they transport bombs in those ‘armored’ safety containers. They may have trouble finding drivers for those rigs from now on
Just a note from the article...... they put the devices inside the bomb containment vessel and that is the truck that exploded. That vessel would not contain anything close to 5000# of pyrotechnics. The fireworks on pallets were hauled away - they said they found “fireworks” and “devices”.
Guessing the devices were something other than “fireworks”.
Glad it was in the containment vessel!

There will be 4th July fireworks in the Los Angeles County this year...Rose Bowl...Long Beach...
Some people insist on playing with their own fireworks...That was true even before COVID...In some parts of CA, some people just cannot resist the temptation to play with fireworks...It is very unlikely that you will see people play with fireworks in Beverly Hills or Manhattan Beach...But, South Los Angeles or East Los Angeles...A totally different story...
Antifa seems to have "commercial sized fireworks" at all times. If a conservative made these they would describe them as BOMBS!
