A pair of 84-year-old religious statues were smashed to pieces early Saturday by a woman outside a Queens church, the latest in a disturbing spate of incidents targeting local Catholic properties, church and police officials said.
The incident occurred at the Our Lady of Mercy parish, where the venerable statues of the Blessed Mother and St. Therese the Little Flower were knocked over, dragged into the middle of the street and broken with a hammer around 3:30 a.m., said John Quaglione, a spokesman for the Diocese of Brooklyn....

Completely understandable. I can’t think of any more divisive figures than the Blessed Mother and St. Therese the Little Flower.
I hope the FBI is paying attention so they can add this to their tally of white supremacist crimes.

Franco decided to join the planned military uprising in Spain in 1936 when a church very close to a government building was burned and he realized the elected government intended to do nothing about the growing destruction of the church buildings. He wasn’t the leader of the original uprising, but he was determined to “live and die in a Catholic Spain”.

Very sad. I gave been to that church many times.family were parishioners over 50 years.

not long ago a guy in Colorado was sentenced to TWENTY YEARS for having thought about destroying a synagogue. This person will most likely get off completely or gets a slap on the wrist for actually destroying things.
“A woman” doesn’t tell us much. However, not giving a name and mug shot speaks volumes.
