Jaguars cut Tim Tebow

The Tim Tebow tight end experiment in Jacksonville has come to an end. Tebow was released by the Jaguars today, ending a very brief return to football and likely ending his NFL career. Anyone who saw Tebow’s “highlights” from the Jaguars’ preseason opener had little doubt that he was failing as a tight end. He did nothing as a receiver and was painfully bad as a blocker. Once among America’s most popular athletes, Tebow is probably now done in pro sports.

There's always politics.

Me thinks he should of stuck with football from the beginning. Baseball(vanity) didn't help his image except with the hangers-on. Reminds me of Forrest Gump when his followers asked "What about us." Deadheads.

No kidding.....

I believe I got reamed here for suggesting he’d never make the team. Now you can view the meme videos of him trying to block.

Good grief, the guy’s just not that good. Doesn’t make him a bad guy. Maybe the Jets will sign him again.

Sure Tebow can do the SEC work. He wanted to give it a shot at tight end which many scouts had earlier encouraged.

Was hopeful he could make it but that he didn’t matters not. He gave it his best.
Love him for the work he does off the field and always respect it.

God bless him.

The NFL committed suicide, completely irrelevant.

I agree.
This seems to be racist.
He is a good man. He will do just fine.

Harry Callahan: “A man’s got ta know his limitations”.

*Just do sportscasting for the SEC network.* Doable but the stage is not big enough. He won’t be able to talk about God as a sportscaster. Identifying as a conservative or a republican would be a hurdle to get past.

I saw some highlights of his play during his Heisman Trophy year at Florida. Even back then I knew he was never going to make it as an NFL quarterback.

The QB position probably has the starkest difference between college football and the NFL of any position on the field. Unless you play in a pro-style offense in college, you are not likely to be a top NFL quarterback.

For every John Elway or Payton Manning out there, you'll find dozens of Johnny Manziels, Tim Tebows, Charlie Wards and Doug Fluties. And whatever happened to Danny Wuerffel, by the way? :-)

I think Roe/Wade is coming to a head soon and he could/should be out there in the forefront. A ‘survivo’r and big time success story.

His only hope to stay in sports would be as knuckleball pitcher. He maybe could last another 10 years if he could learn how to throw a good one. He might have the knack and not even know it until he tries.

Well, not that good at tight end. Or at baseball.
If anyone wonders what happened to his baseball career (I did), he did unimpressively in his first year in A-ball... but it was his first year playing baseball, and so he moved forward. Actually did better the next year in AA, batting .272... good enough to move onto AAA in his third year... where he did just plain awful. If he were just some broke Joe 22-year-old, maybe he could’ve moved back down to AA for a season and hoped to improve, but he’s not.

He’s our version of Colin Kaepernik. If he was good, the teams would grab him. He’s just not good enough. A great person for sure, but not for NFL.

Yep, totally agree. He’d be a good Taysom Hill type player if he were younger and on a team without a better backup QB. But trying to play TE in the NFL is more than running and catching the ball.

It’s clear he had so much work to do on his blocking and he probably doesn’t have the speed to run routes effectively either.
