The German carmaker is replacing its Currywurst with vegetarian alternatives.
After nearly 50 years, Volkswagen will no longer serve its famous made-in-house sausage at its Wolfsburg production plant.
In 2019, the Volkswagen butcher’s shop still produced 7 million curry sausages.
Volkswagen is cutting its meat production for the sake of sustainability, and it makes sense, but people are losing it over the announcement. As Politico put it, for some folks, this is just “the Wurst!” It flies in the face of decades of sausage-eating tradition. Currywurst production has been ongoing at VW since 1973
The sausage is such a VW staple, that it actually has a Volkswagen part number. The sausage casing reads “Volkswagen Originalteil” which roughly translates to “Volkswagen Original Part.”

Dad owned 17 VWs through the years. I’ve owned a VW Bug, a Jetta (POS!) and now drive his VW Golf.
Good cars, bad PR in the past decade or so. Everything has gone to shiite. :(
I was in Berlin years ago consulting. The Company one evening had a beer garden party with sausages, kraut ect. and beer all you can eat.

Dry, inedible spheres with the consistency of the fiberglass furniture they feature.
And I had to ask for 3 dabs of sauce to cover them with a single coating. I should have just asked for the sauce.
You need to complain to management.
I’ve had those dozens of times and they are awesome.
Also their fried chicken sandwich is sublime.

Nah, that’s not enough. Anyone seriously worried about “climate change” needs to go delete themselves from the gene pool. That’s the only meaningful activism they can take at this point.
