NFLPA opens investigation after Jacksonville Jaguars' Urban Meyer says vaccination status a factor in roster cuts

Jaguars coach Urban Meyer said he and general manager Trent Baalke took a player's vaccination status into consideration during final roster cuts.

Meyer said Tuesday that it was considered because of the more stringent COVID-19 protocols imposed on unvaccinated players who test positive or are identified as high-risk close contacts as compared with the protocols for vaccinated players."Everyone was considered," Meyer said. "That was part of the [considerations such as] production, let's start talking about this, and also is he vaccinated or not? Can I say that that was a decision-maker? It was certainly in consideration."

Meyer's comments did not go over well with the NFL Players Association. George Atallah, the assistant executive director for external affairs for the NFLPA, told ESPN via email that Meyer's statements "have led us to open an investigation."

The mask-vaccine insanity continues.

Meanwhile, unvetted illegal aliens pour into the U.S. hourly.

AS Dr. Bones McCoy might have said to Capt. Kirk - “It’s dead, Jim. The NFL is dead. Let’s bury it in outer-space and move on to another planet which has some common sense.”

How many professional or college football, basketball, and baseball players have died or been hospitalized from COVID?

Oh wait, I forgot..... It’s not about them, it’s about Grandma.

Sorry if I left that impression.

I find both to be reprehensible, in a country that values liberty.

From everything I can tell the Jaguars coach is an idiot who has no idea what he’s doing with the team.

He also has a long record of cheating.

I’m not sure about that. He is in a rebuild and his Draft looked pretty good.

He’s an offensive innovator and the offense looked excellent in the last preseason game.

I'd bet that vaccination status probably had something to do with Bill Belichick's decision to cut the unvaccinated Cam Newton this morning as well (though Newton was clearly outplayed by Mac Jones this preseason).

The NFL policy on vaccination is ridiculous:

Vaccinated players are tested weekly, and those who test positive are required to be out for 10 days or can return sooner once they receive two negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests separated by 24 hours. Vaccinated players cannot be identified as high-risk close contacts, but if they are exposed to someone who tests positive, they must wear a mask inside the facility and must test daily for five days after the day of exposure.

Unvaccinated players are tested daily, and those who test positive must miss 10 days, and there is then a three-day return-to-play protocol. Unvaccinated players designated as high-risk close contacts must test immediately. If they test negative, they still must miss five days and can return on Day 6. If they test positive, they must go through the 10-day quarantine and three-day return-to-play protocol.

Without getting into the merits of Urban Meyers, he does say in the article that it was in response to the NFL rules on vaccinated and unvaccinated players that he made this decision, not the vaccination status itself.

The NFL has insane requirements for testing unvaccinated players daily and forcing them into two week quarantines. Vaccinated ones are tested weekly. So the point was that unvaccinated ones were more likely to miss training, games, etc because of the NFL’s own requirements.

Note to the players: If you don’t already realize that your union has thrown you under the bus...

No wonder the NFL doesn’t hire for brains, eh?

It seems like Cam Newton got the axe over his vaccine hesitancy...(blessing in disguise for us Pats fans)

I guess if the vaccine actually was a vaccine then there would be some validation to these silly mandates but obviously the “vaccine” is merely a therapeutic which may ease symptoms but clearly does stop you from contracting or passing covid on so how can folks claim the high ground here?
