My phone has been giving me this notice for about a week. Even has a nifty red icon to make sure you know when to panic. Sure beats getting the clot shot. No real experience with the app since it wasn't downloaded. Time to double up on the Ivermectin.

I’m wondering how this app could possibly work. How could it know if the person who just walked past you has Covid?

It uses Bluetooth. Pairing requires mutual acceptance, but Bluetooth is still a point-to-point networking protocol, and some information could be shared. I suspect that the app requires that you allow it to share that information.

This is Google. Google is demonstrably evil. Why anyone would want this is beyond my comprehension.

My iPhone did that once, and I disabled the "exposure" notification in the settings. You should be able to disable yours too.
