Japanese auction house Bingo and Yahoo! Auctions Japan jointly sold the most valuable Japanese motorcycle in auction history on October 31 when a near-perfect 2016 Honda RC213V-S sold for ¥27,100,000 (US$237,700), eclipsing the previous record held by a one-of-four (two extant) 1968 Honda CB750 prototype that fetched £157,500 (US$221,600) at British auction house H&H in 2018.
The sale of the RC213V-S for US$237,700 bodes well for the increased value of all collectible Japanese motorcycles because it’s just six years since the bikes were available new for $184,000 with the race kit costing an extra $12,000, for an all-up new price of $196,000 – the bike sold on Sunday had just 161 kilometers on the odometer, and the unfitted $12,000 race kit in the original Honda parts boxes.
Indeed, the RC213V-S is still so closely related to the squillion dollar factory bikes which Marc Marquez and Pol Espargaro ride in MotoGP, that when Marc Marquez was recovering from injury in March 2021, and wanted to test himself to see if he could still ride near the limit, he tested on an RC213V-S.

Nice. Very Nice.
Marquez is quote a rider. I tape all the moto gp races a d Superbike races too. Been watching Cameron beauvier (sp?) From before he moved up to higher class. In the lower class he totally dominated. Rarely making mistakes. Motorcycle racing is such a physically exhausting sport, and precision is key. Every corner every lap, you have to be nearly perfect everytime. These folks are the best of the best. So much fun to watch.
And I was hoping to see only rare and exotic bikes in the thread.
Bimotas.. Ducatis.. Anything MotoGP .. Soichiro Honda one-offs.. Buells.. older Vincents, Royal Enfields.. even Pentons, Hodakas..sigh...
So sorry, dude.
Go out and ride.
70 MPH air blowing up your nostrils and adrenalin surging is
a sure cure for depression caused by reading unsatisfactory
forum posts. Cures hangovers too. (:-))
Obviously wouldn't be on your list - but I always liked the Suzuki GT750 water-cooled 2-stroke triple (unusual, if not "exotic" ;>)...
I actually like all motorcycles a little bit.. even Electra-Glides (gag)
I like it by virtue of being a two-stroke. The TZs were my favorite race bikes of all time.
I am amazed how they can handle those corners where they are mere inches from scraping the ground with their knees. Every one of them looks so smooth.
Classic. I used to have a 1982 Virgo 750. It was a fun bike. Now the only one I have left is a 67 Triumph tiger 650.
I subscribe to Bikes and Beards on youtube and he did I think 2 videos on the Honda RC series. Those Honda and Yamaha superbikes are effing sick.
And at one time I had a next door neighbor who had a
collection of Harleys. He wouldn't let touch them,
let alone ride any of them.
Yep. How,those bikes can grip at those angles is unreal. There is o ly a very thin amount of rubber making contact with the pavement. One tiny little miscalculation in ,Ean angle though, and down they go. They are always riding right on the edge of losing grip- in order to maintain maximum speed- that is how precise they have to be, every lap, every sharp corner. They really are masters at their craft
They do,have knee pads/plates [not sure what they are made of] to protect their knee as it slides on the pavement.
Thanks.
I had a lot of fun with the thing.
Not a flashy, unique, exotic, expensive,
or even fast bike - but it served its
purpose - which was FUN.
With my (then) 240 pound bulk on the thing
it would top out at only about 115 - but was
just fine with me.
Even the 3 wheel ones with 2 wheels up front? I don’t care for those much. I do like the 2 wheels,in back models though. I grew up on three wheelers atv’s. Back in the day when hardly, anyone posted their lands and had riding trails al. Through their properties. We could go,for miles, and miles on trails. Was super fun. No helmets, no permits, no registration for the atv’s- land owners encouraged locals to use their trails, because they were riders and outdoors folks too- that was freedom. Now it takes an act of congress to get permits and register and get permission to use trails practically, and mo0st everything is posted these days.
