I absolutely agree with you in principle. BUT, it is the left that has politicized absolutely EVERYTHING in life. There isn't a corner anywhere in the USA where you can retreat to and not be cudgelled with mean, ugly politics. It is one of the saddest states of affairs in civic life these past two decades. The extreme left did this and it shouldn't surprise us that the right has taken up the same methods after a long delay to respond.

I never cared about that crap when I was a kid and no other kid around me ever said anything at any Christmas about wanting to talk to the president about Santa. I see no hard evidence this is a big deal at all to any kid.
