Heheheheh...thanks for posting this...:)
I have to say, I didn’t see a survival blanket. I have one those, they don’t take up much space.
“We always carry an axe. Used it three times this past year. First to cut willow branches to put under the tracks of the side by side.”
Laugh at my machetes, now.
;D
“. If driving an electric vehicle, just bend over and kiss your posterior goodbye.”
Actually the ICE car takes much more energy to keep you warm when stranded.
The EV has a giant battery to keep your posterior warm.
Just find a kind stranger with a gas car and huddle for warmth.
Take an empty coffee can. Fill it about half way with kitty litter. Add a large Dollar Store candle to the can. Replace the lid.
Light, heat, and litter all in one convenient package.

I always make sure the wife has her insulated overalls, a down jacket, winter hat and gloves and a moving blanket in her car. There’s almost always a bottle of water floating around in there somewhere. We keep a flashlight in the glovebox.
When I go out in winter, I just grab all the same to take with me if I’m not already wearing.
Danger of Carbon Monoxide In Your Vehicle
If stranded in your vehicle in deep snow, while the engine is running (for warmth) you MUST keep your vehicle’s exhaust pipe clear of accumulating snow or you will suffer (or die) from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Good info, and timely. Since my kids were little, I’ve always kept a fleece blanket in the car, along with a few other items. After reading this, I realize I can up my game a little bit.

The warm clothing part was easy. I used to attend NFL games in a place where December and January weather could be awful, so I simply packed my “January playoff game” outfit in my vehicle and kept it there through the winter.
Or you could just have an unwoke department of transportation that actually clears snow off major highways during snow storms. Note that this leads to salt poisoning of the oceans and running snowplows adds to green house gas buildup.
Cuddle Up,,,
J.Lo can You hear Me?
Buy a mylar survival bag. If stranded on the highway stay in the car to avoid wind. Shut off the engine. Get in the bag. Put your bottle of water and MREs in the bag with you. Put on your wool hat. Wait.
While I have sympathy for those who got caught in this post-New Year Weekend storm, I cannot help but wonder how many are the Blue Washingtonians that regard any mention of ‘survivalist’ as a road to damnation? Remember, their creed is that the government must be mother, the dispenser of all good things and the kisser of all boo-boos.
They are preaching to the choir.
Unless some DU troll stumbles on this thread and posts it over there, liberals will not see this.
It is pathetic that people who live in regions where snow does happen, have to be educated about how to prepare for driving in the snow/winter conditions.
Did they ever hear of checking weather forecasts?
Hardly a survival story, but I’ll share this —
I once had a neighbor, who was a general contractor and really should have known better than this. But, his car was stuck in his driveway and he wanted me to pull him out. I said, “Fine, let me walk to my place and get a tow strap.”
He said that wasn’t necessary. He had an electrical extension cord. We could tie the cars together with that, and I could pull him out of the snow bank.
I explained to him that this electrical extension cord was basically copper. Copper has no tensile strength. You can’t pull anything with copper. The thing would snap instantly. He told me I was crazy.
So, it snapped instantly.
And just at that moment, his buddy showed up to help. I said, “Looks like the cavalry is here” and I left. Dumbass.
P>Imagine if those were all electric.
