Oh, thank you, MercyFlush! Except in order to disagree you have to point out what am I wrong at.
I disagree that Russia has any right to annex any part of Ukraine when Russia recognized the sovereign borders of Ukraine when Ukraine declared independence.
Crimea and Donbass belong to Ukraine regardless of any other concern.
Where do YOU live princess?...I’m guessing Moms basement
Last time I visited Russia there were 100 channels on the TV. All of them in the Russian language. Not a single foreign language channel. It’s pretty obviously the intention of the Russian government to isolate Russians from the world.
I live in a million dollar estate in Texas.
I’m quite comfortable.
Thanks for asking.
Wonder if I can still get Radio Moscow on the old Shortwave.
Your take on Crimea contradicts the UN charter on civil rights. According to it, people of the land have the right to self-determination, including secession.
According to Article 9 of the Ukrainian Constitution, the above charter is a part of the Ukrainian legal system.
According to Soviet legislation, as an autonomous republic within a Soviet republic, Crimea had a right to independence from the USSR, separate from the larger republic it belonged to.
In January 1991 83% of Ukrainians voted for sovereign Crimea, independent from whatever entity.
On May 5, 1992 the declaration of independence of Crimea was adopted.
It has never become a part of Ukraine to start with after a Soviet dissolution.
In 2014 the vote was repeated with the same result.
What’s wrong with it?
As for Donbas, the official Russian position is that it is a part of Ukraine.
There are Minsk agreements though, upheld by the UN resolution and supported by the US, Germany, and France.
It details the conditions of the return of Donbas under Ukrainian jurisdiction.
That include federalization, cultural autonomy, amnesty to the rebels, and free elections.
Ukraine drags on it for 7 years because it doesn’t want Donbas people to vote.
I have no idea how they are going to reabsorb it as this point because the hatred of Ukraine is too strong after so many years in a grey zone.
They better let them go now.
Russia must first leave Ukraine including Crimea before any discussion of a UN recognized secession can take place. That’s the only way forward if Russia wants to end sanctions.
In the meantime prepare for Finland and Sweden to join NATO this year.
Based on what?:) What of that I posted is wrong?
Crimeans aren’t going to accept it any more than Texans the return to Mexico. Do you want to organize a bloodbath akin to that of Donbas?
BTW, Ukraine doesn’t want Crimea as well, for the same reason it doesn’t take Donbas back.
It is a dog and pony show.
Please, invading a country and then holding elections in which occupying Russian soldiers are allowed (ordered) to vote doesn’t fool anyone nor does it speak for Ukraine.
Oh that's rich. Coming from a country whose media is every bit as much a blatant propaganda organ for the government as the US media.
What a joke, looks like free speech is dead in the UK.
The Crimea has been Russian since the time of Cathrine the Great. The Crimea belongs to Russia. Russia has it’s largest naval base in The Crimea. If you want a hot war with Russia just try taking The Crimea from it. Don’t believe me? Ask England and Turkey.
Try to extrapolate on Kosovo but then take into account that there was no vote on the fate of Kosovo. The Christian population was killed off or chased away by NATO.
Russian soldiers didn’t vote in the Crimean referendum, that’s just Ukrainian propaganda.
Check out reputable pollsters on the issue. The approval of the Russian administration of Crimea improves every year. They remember the years of the Ukrainian control as hell on Earth.
So if Poland invades and annexes the Oblast and then holds elections whose results show a clear majority wanting to join Poland you’ll respect this, right?
What are you smoking, Mercy? Poland invaded Chicago and London with hordes of wetbacks. Nobody wants to live in Poland and they have zero ability to invade East unless they want the redux of Katyn.
Who in a sane mind wants to join Poland?:)
It’s a simple question. I’d appreciate a simple answer.
Russia gave away Crimea and agreed to that cession when Ukraine declared independence. Then the sneak thief Putin stole it with his hamhanded maskirovka of the Little Green Men.
Proving that Russia can’t be trusted.
There is no vote to join Poland, can it be any more simple?
