I don't know the answer, so I am just left to speculation.
Fauci has a history of enriching Big Pharmas coffers (and by extension, his own coffers, or prestige) at the expense of the public (see his previous work in pushing AZT on people suffering from AIDs, and pushing Remdesivir on people suffering from CoVid). So he, and the CDC/FDA/NIH establishment pushed experimental vaccines that provided tenuous benefits to the CoVid alpha variant - and probable negative short term effects on heart issues, and unknown long term effects (e.g., 'cancers').
After investing all of their propaganda power in pushing these ill advised treatments - they can't back down. People would hang - since more people have probably been killed by pushing these fiasco treatments, and shutting down well known alternative (and cheap) treatments. So the lie must continue, and they (Fauci/CDC/NIH/FDA/Media) will continue to double down on the lie. To admit they were wrong would be fatal to their careers (and possibly to their necks).
