In organizational theory, if there’s some kind of problem or mental aberration at the top, it permeates all the way through the organization all the way to the janitor. If there’s, say, an alcoholic running the company he hires reports who are alcoholics, they hire alcoholics, and it flows down the line. After twenty years the entire company will be alcoholics. A drug addict or sexual predator does not hire people who would be unsympathetic or none-supportive.
A department manager at Honeywell who had been in the same job for twenty years was short, bald and completely round. One day his department of about eighteen were walking down the aisle in front of me and I realized all of the people he’d hired himself were short, and hugely overweight. A disproportionate number of the males were bald. The women were just short and fat.
Once something like a crazy person is in the top spot, the company is probably going to be skewed towards crazy from then on. Even if you get rid of the guy at the top. To clean it out you’d have to fire most if not all of the top staff.
I have noticed that in doctor’s offices.
How the staff treats you is a complete reflection on the doctor.
If I don’t like the staff, then I will find another doctor.
