Nightclub apologizes after dead rapper's body displayed standing upright on stage

WASHINGTON (TND) - A rapper named Goonew, who was reportedly shot to death, attended his own memorial at a nightclub on Sunday.
The sight apparently caused quite the controversy, even more so when pictures of the event were spread around online.
Born Markelle Marrow, Goonew was killed on March 18 by an unknown assailant in District Heights, Maryland, according to police. He was 24 years old at the time of his death.
His body was reportedly released to a funeral home following an autopsy, but fans were shocked to see him standing on stage at his own memorial event on April 3.
The event was held at the "Bliss" nightclub in Washington D.C. and called "The Last Show." Goonew's body was reportedly propped upright on stage, wearing a crown, sneakers, jeans, and an Amiri hoodie.
According to popular hip hop magazine XXL, a rapper going by the name "Black Fortune" posted clips of Goonew's body on his Instagram account.
Apparently many event-goers were confused by Goonew's appearance, and some wondered if it was a wax figure instead of his actual dead body. Black Fortune cleared up that misconception.

This has been a trend for the last few years. Taking the bodies to a viewing in the extreme and having a party around the deceased. It’s too much for me and I would not go to one of those things.
