I received an interesting letter in the mail today. The letter is from one of those "quickie" land buyers who prey on the ignorant people. I bought a lot which is in a subdivision on Toledo Bend Reservoir on the Texas side 34 years ago. The letter offers me $250 for the residential lot.
Does anyone have a creative way to respond to this guy to send the message of "Don't ever do that again!"? I wanted to post the redacted letter to Facebook, but don't know if that is legal or not. Words escape me on how people can do things like that.
He’s chancing that there will be at least one buyer out of several thousand people who are in financially dire enough straits that they will sell their land for $250.
That’s my understanding how the Zuck expanded his estate. He offered a low rate on property, then he sued the rest of the land owners and promised to bankrupt if they didn’t sell on his terms.

I get multiple.calls.and communications from these types.....the bottom feeders of the real.estate industry, as if one can go lower in that field. I’ve gotten settlements from 2 for violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act for unsolicited contact.
With the others, I always tell them there is a $2,500.00 non-refundable pre-negotiation fee if they want to continue talking to me. I have yet to hear back from the same one twice.
They’ll get a laugh out of anything you send them.
If you want to hurt them, accept the offer, go down the path until you have to commit, then decline. Waste their resources, make them pay.
When I was stationed at Ft Polk the Army had spots reserved at Toledo Bend. Rented many a pontoon boat there. And, no, I would not sell for $250
We had the opposite happen we received an unsolicited offer for three times what we paid 30 months ago.
You CAN post it as long as personal identifying information is censored. People post medical and work letters all the time - at least they did when I last used it 3 years ago.
You might be amazed what advice you get, but I guarantee this is a ploy by cartels to buy up land so they can have the excuse of, “private property!” when feds show up to take the people into custody.

Ignore their offer. If you feel you have to respond use a
simple reply. Like.... No. Thanks for the offer. Or
something to that effect.
Yeah I have gotten two similar letters from similar scumbag realtors, offering a pittance for land.
The first one offered three thousand for my property which is worth a hundred times that, and I wouldn’t sell it even at that price.
The land is now in a trust, and the trustee (who would not legally be able to sell it anyway, and the realtor dang well knew that), got a letter offering $750 in cash for the property, if the deal was consummated within 24 hours.
I’d have more respect for these people if they tried to rob me at gunpoint.
lol. If you were a black family at the poverty level and I could be SURE you wouldn't sell the land, but find a way to build and house on it and stay there, I'd probably take you up on your offer. Reason being, I've been low-balled so many times on that lot it would serve the people right who live next to me for also trying to lowball me. Problem is, I can't find a buyer like that.

We got one last week...no price mentioned but simply an interest in purchase.
I told them that since inflation is now an issue, the price is 1.5 million..and cash or certified bank check. Better hurry cuz inflation is adding to the price daily.
So what do they do? Same type call, same number and I give them the same reply.

I get those.. I always use the enclosed envelope to return their offer along with a dollar bill. I suggest the sender invest in a decent pair of shoes. I laugh uncontrollably.
We get those silly offers all of the time.
