One thing is certain; the left is lying in news reports about Ukraine to manipulate people. Everything in news reports is not false like the death and destruction, but I am certain we are being manipulated by the left to get us into a war with Russia.

Sad but true. The fact is that 99% of people are unable to think independently of the mass news media. They will obey and do as they are told. It’s so discouraging.

China invades Taiwan if things get bad in Europe, or if Russia wins in Ukraine.

Yeah, we’ve seen this act too many times before. All the “WE” will stand by you until this is won and “WE” have victory won’t actually be going so it’s easy for them to make those statements. 50,000+ will likely give you a hearty PHU COUGH! Not to leave out the kids that lost everything in the Middle East kerfuffle. Everytime I see the youngsters on the Tunnels to Towers ads I feel shame and embarrassment thanks to useless pols in d.c.. They were betrayed and still are at a lot of VA facilities. The proposed Ukraine budget is bigger than the VA budget. Or the CBP budget. WTAF?

Also we are not prepared, both within our armed forces, nor our society, for such a war. Fighting Russia/USSR, China, North Korea, Iran, and the other assorted tinpots at the same time will be difficult at best under the best of circumstances, and that’s not including nuclear weapons.

The change we need is in our own nation, it is suicide to try to live among liberal democrat criminals any longer.

For God’s sake people!! When are folks going to finally get it through their thick skulls that WE HAVE NO BUSINESS INTERFERING WITH OTHER PEOPLE’S PROBLEMS!

We just got through pouring thousands of lives and billions of dollars into the interminable gaping holes of Iraq and Afghanistan, while the conservative movement devoured its own as “unpatriotic” those who said this kind of lunacy was stupid and wrong.

And they are just dead set and determined to crank up “Proud to be an American” and march over into Ukraine to prop up a hideeously corrupt cabal of yes men to the worst aspects of the western banking alliance!

Just unfathomable stupidity. How much is enough, people?

I know the Slavs and the the Rus and history of those two. Their history is long, deep, and has grown acrimonious like an old drunken embattled couple at 11pm... familiarily breeds comtempt.

It seems the major world powers are all engaged in self destruction.

China with unnecessary lockdowns.

Russia with an unnecessary war.

US and Europe with unnecessary deficit spending and immigration.

One of the most corrupt countries in Europe. I’m convinced that they’re the clearinghouse for a lot of politicians ill-gotten gains.

I hope they both lose. Austin is a horrible general, but the ‘Weaken Russia’ plan is another way of saying, ‘They were dumb enough to make the same mistake we just made in Afghanistan. Now it’s our turn to supply Russia’s enemy with stuff to kill Russians. We just didn’t think that Russia would lose so much of their ground force as quickly as they did. Unexpected benefit.’

completely forgotten everything in the past 10 years
***They seem to have completely forgotten that in 2012 oil & gas reserves were being explored by Exxon and western oil companies. This war is about oil & gas reserves. The last time we had an oppressive regime invade their neighbor over oil & gas, an international coalition kicked his ass back to Iraq.

Why Russia wants to invade Ukraine

https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/4050958/posts

The Russians weren’t even interested in eastern Ukraine until oil was found there. Their interest is simply in raping that country. Russia gets 60% of its revenues from oil exports. Europe gets 40% of their oil from Russia.

In 2012 massive oil and gas reserves were found in Crimea. Crimea signed a $10 billion exploration contracts with Shell and Chevron to develop the new found oil and gas fields. These oil and gas products would compete in Europe with Russia’s oil and gas, reducing Russia’s oil revenues, which we recall amount to 60% of their total GDP. Russia annexed Crimea in 2014, cancelling the contracts with Shell and Chevron.

But Ukraine still had massive reserves in, you guessed it, Donetsk and Luhansk, and other areas East of the Dnieper River. In 2019, Energy Secretary Rick Perry visited Ukraine, and soon after Ukraine awarded exploration contracts to a consortium of U.S. oil companies. Again, these oil reserves would compete in Europe with Russian oil, so Putin is invading Ukraine to shut down this latest attempt to extract Ukrainian oil and sell it in competition with Russian oil.

This explanation makes more sense to me than the “Putin feels threatened by NATO expansion” excuses for the invasion.

If the Ukes allow some small region in the west to be its own republic, but the OIL belongs to Ukraine, do ya think Pootypoot would allow that? Nope.

“I’ll even double the ante and bet that a majority of Americans still couldn’t pick it out on a blank map of Europe.”

It wouldn’t surprise me if the majority of Americans couldn’t pick out Europe, on a blank map of Europe.

We owe the Ukrainians. Remember when they fought to the death in 1777 and 1812 for us?…

“And yet a majority of the population is now busting out the Ukrainian flags when Joe Biden says that Russia’s Putin must go”

Really? I would argue that a vast majority of Americans don’t give a hoot about Ukraine. The problem with opinion pieces like this is the assumption that “everyone” is aware of the issue; and that they have an opinion on it.

This is rarely the case. The average person on the street could not point to Ukraine on a map.

It is literally stupid to make statements like the above quote.

Wasn’t a large portion of America inexorably against war just a few years ago?

Faced will full-spectrum propaganda on all fronts - media, culture, tech, business, religious - Americans move like sheep wherever the sheepdog pushes them.

but because the powers controlling public opinion and public expenditure in the West would also benefit from a war.

This is asshattery of the first order. No one in Western Europe wanted another war, because they all expected it to be a replay of WWI.

That misperception and fear of another WWI is what led to the policy of appeasement that enabled Hitler to launch the war.

What's happened with Ukraine is an almost exact replica of the leadup to WWII, where Russia's assaults on Georgia and the Ukraine were ignored or papered over. Putin thought the invasion of Ukraine now would be like Hitler's Anschluss of Austria. If it had succeeded, in a few years Russia would have gone after the Baltics: after all, why not, if after several invasions NATO had done nothing, why would Russia believe it would defend the Baltics?

We're lucky the Ukrainians have the courage to defend themselves.

This whole thread sucks.

Look through it and you’ll see nothing but people demonstrating fear. From fear come all sorts of bad things and almost each of those bad things sees representation here.

China, wuflu, Ukraine, Russia, the current usurper in the oval office, the actual traitors in congress and even the hornets of Taiwan...

None of them are right.

None deserve support. All deserve our ire.

But instead FR is making more and more of its IT’S OWN MEMBERS the enemy.

Shame on everyone.
