A snake in President Trump's cabinet: Mark Esper tells all to 60 Minutes
American Thinker ^ | 9 May, 2022 | Monica Showalter

Like Alexander Vindman, Esper was convinced he and his bosom buddy Gen. Milley knew more than President Trump did.

When you think of everything that's gone wrong with the U.S. military -- from its wokester agenda, to its failure to contain Russia, to its breakdown in discipline, to the presence of Gen. Mark Milley on the Joint Chiefs of Staff, pretty much all of it has the name of Mark Esper, President Trump's former defense secretary, all over it.

Rather than slink off into obscurity after such a performance, if not back to the big-bucks war-machine defense-contractor lobby whence he sprang, he's out shilling a tell-all book and promoting it on 60 Minutes in a bid to discredit the man he purportedly "served," President Trump.

According to 60 Minutes interviewer Norah O'Donnell, he now calls Trump "a threat to American democracy."

But his interview with 60 Minutes didn't come out the heroic way he probably thought it would.

Unbeknownst to him, he demonstrated what a coward's coward and slithering snake he was while in office. Everything he did involved some new means of undercutting President Trump, or, as O'Donnell summed up, "subverted many of the president's wishes."

Vindman, Esper and Milley - talk about a weak staff.

He didn’t have much available to choose from - and he was new to the game.

Thought he was dealing with people who loved their country more than politics.

It’s projection- you tend to think others are like yourself

Liars tend to think everyone else is a liar.
Good people tend to think everyone else is good people.

I think Trump should have also fired the incompetent ignoramus that hired Esper. Wait, what?

But when he ran, he said he knew how to fight everyone. He’s not an idiot, he hired what he wanted.

He is starting to get slammed from several directions for this. He is corrupt and bought off.

Quite a bit less than treason. Donald Trump is a private citizen so nothing said about him falls under criminal statute. As for so called refusing to carry out Presidential “ orders”, that has happened in the past. MacArthur’s attempt to overrule Truman during Korea is just one example. The problem few here recognize is that these people and too many others like them were appointed by Pres. Trump. So his judgement can be called into question. His ideas and policies were in the right place, unfortunately he failed in finding people to implement them.

I think Trump should have also fired the incompetent ignoramus who recommended Esper. But then it would look bad to fire one’s daughter and son in law.

The greatest mistake and failure of President Trump was not cleaning up the Swamp immediately.

Immediately before joining the Trump administration, Esper lobbied for defense contractor Raytheon as its vice president of government relations.

Can you say deep-state swamp critter?

He didn’t have much available to choose from - and he was new to the game.

I was once more hard on Trump for his picks, but realized two important points. In the first place, he had literally thousands of positions to fill. He can only "vet" very, very few of them. that's why Political parties developed - as deep farm teams for the big league system of patronage and graft.

And also, as part of this - Trump had no choice. For most key positions - he needed to worry about Senate confirmation. Like the KGB in the Soviet Union, the whole deep state and McConnell would NEVER allow anyone from outside the deep state in an important post.

Trump was successful in that he proved to all Americans the deep state exists, and runs Fed.gov. No one doubts that now. He also proved the hypocrisy and corruption of the media. We can thank him for that too.

Exactly. Which is why I hope DeSantis runs, or Trump has sense enough (at all) to choose a real American patriot who can do the heavy lifting, instead of a beta male backstabber
