Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) railed against the indictment of former Trump White House adviser Peter Navarro while saying in an interview on Friday that “if you’re a Republican, you can’t even lie to Congress or lie to an FBI agent or they’re coming after you.”
Gohmert, speaking to Newsmax in an interview on Friday, was asked to comment on the Friday indictment of Navarro by a federal grand jury after the former Trump official failed to comply with the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
“It actually puts an exclamation point on the fact that we have a two-tiered justice system. If you’re a Republican, you can’t even lie to Congress or lie to an FBI agent or they’re coming after you. They’re gonna bury you. They’re gonna put you in the D.C. jail and terrorize and torture you and not live up to the Constitution there,” Gohmert responded.
He argued that there was a double standard to how Democrats and Republicans were being treated, pointing to the acquittal of prominent Democratic attorney Michael Sussman, who was being investigated by special counsel John Durham, as one example.
“So [it’s] very clear. If you’re a Democrat, then you can lie. You can cheat. You can do whatever you want,” he said.

We can point our fingers right at traitorous snakes like Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCathy for enabling this persecution. It all started with McConnell, that drunk Bhoener, and the Bush Crime Family trying to squash the Tea Party movement and keep control of the GOP.
But democrats are exempt from prosecution.

That’s most likely because most republicans are actually democrats who ran on the republican ticket.
For one thing, in some places, it was their only chance at getting elected.
The other is so they could enact their agenda once they were in, all the while still pretending to be republicans.
It’s become blindingly obvious that the vast majority of politicians have/had no intention whatsoever of actually representing us. They got elected and seem to feel that they deserved the lifetime appointment of being our overlords.
You own the house and senate and can pay off or scare the jury or hand pick them. The judges are obama appointed. It’s a set up from the beginning and they know it. The midterms “should be” a slaughter. But rogers stone even said there will be a new pandemic that will allow them to make mail in voting legal. I don’t know how they can without the legislature doing it but they did it in 2020 with no investigation or charges. If they allow mail ins for midterms they will do it again in 2024 and the USA is done.
Which is why it is imperative to win control of both houses.
Doesn’t need to be a lie for the Democrat’s law enforcers to get involved... it could be any statement with which they disagree or triggers them. In today’s America, the defendant must prove his innocence or go bankrupt.

we are already done. they didn’t go to the measures they did to ever intend to give up power. if voters hate them now it will be several times worse by november at the rate things are happening. they aren’t worried.
this is the time to leave, if you have a plan b that looks relatively sound in the current scenario. if I had to pick a place, I would be looking at brazil/argentina/chile, but haven’t been that far south in many years and have no real insight.
but I do believe we are at the ‘2nd warning bell’ if not later. leave while it is an option, if you have options that make sense under current situation. (example of not making sense - new zealand or australia, which have turned out to be more easily transformed into orwellian states than I think anyone would have expected)
I maybe a fool but still hold out a small bit of hope. If the midterms are stolen then they will have another 2 years to push through enough to likely finish us. If they steal the midterms they will steal 2024.
I had a long talk with my uncle who is a democrat or he was. Now he said he is independent. He said to many times your forced to vote for lesser of the 2 evils. But now the dems have went so radical they have went power and money hungry. More than usual. He said it’s so corrupt at this point they will do what ever they need to in order to hold the power. He said the only real hope is the republicans take the house and senate to block the rest of the agenda and get conservative in office in 2024 to put back the policy that was working. I asked him if he saw 2000 miles and he said no but he absolutely believes it. He said the problem is what are they going to do about it. They own the judicial system and media. The only way they leave is kicking and screaming. If the republicans take back the house and senate he said you won’t see them do investigations like the dems are. The dems will make things up destroy people so they can hold power while republicans will at this point work on policy. If the investigate there will be some politicians retire and walk with millions and very low level people will go to jail. But won’t see much of it from republicans because they have dirt on them also. It’s a big club and we aren’t invited. So that was coming from a Democrat. He said if Trump don’t run DeSantis would make a good President that could make enough change to get another 4 years.
The problem is worse than asymmetrical treatment of liars not under judicial oath. Who decides what is “true” or “false” these days, except in the simplest of cases? Leftists.
So you can “lie” by telling what some would consider to be the truth. As in:
- It seems likely the COVID vaccines are ineffective and more dangerous than previously thought. (Disinformation here, followed by deplatforming, but not yet a jailable offense.)
- Or, “This transgendered woman started out as a man, has changed “its” secondary sexual characteristics by virtue of surgery and heavy hormonal manipulation, but is still a man.
In politics and law, there’s the concept of “the whole truth and nothing but the truth”. That’s gone out the window. Lying by insinuation or omission is considered common practice these days. But, whether you’re called out for it definitely depends on your political leanings.
