...a large variety of food could be produced in the dark using their method, including green algae, yeast, and fungal mycelium...Yum!

Cool - send all the libtards to the dark side of the moon so we can live in peace 🤪

Mushrooms. You keep them in the dark and feed them sh!t.
Kinda reminds me of the government and media.

Good to know in case the sun ever dies we can grow food. /sarcasm

How can you have any pudding if you don’t eat your mycelium?

"The researchers...used a two-step electrocatalytic process to convert carbon dioxide, electricity, and water into acetate, which is the main component in vinegar. They then applied the acetate to food-producing organisms in the dark, causing these organisms to grow."
Sounds like a scientific version of a Rube Goldberg contraption, i.e., making something complicated that is really quite simple. I'll continue to prefer the old-fashioned method of using sunlight to grow things.

Just when plants thought they knew everything.

they can combine their method with solar panels to generate the electricity required to power the electrolysis. Using sunlight to grow food withou sunlight.

Though I suppose that if the “food” is being produced deep in a lunar lava tube, solar panels on the surface would provide energy 24/7.

is the end product exactly the same in every aspect...nutrition, calories, minerals...I have to believe the sun gives more than heat and light to plants.

If Yellowstone were to erupt the survivors will need to utilize this method for about 6 years afterward.

Especially powered by the solar panels they mentioned.
Anyone else find it odd they mentioned without sun and solar panels in the same solution?

Solar panels can power grow lights. Why would we need this method if we have access to either sunlight or electricity?

Where does the electricity come from?

You’ll be eating green algae, yeast, and fungal mycelium and you’ll be happy.
