The Audi A3 TRD 1.6 offered in Europe got 74.3 MPG.
But of course, they despise small diesels.
And that was pure Diesel. A Diesel hybrid could probably get 85 mpg.
I'm sure he meant Either/Or.....
My car will do that when defrosting the windshield, the ac helps to dry it out while the heat does it’s magic.
Another myopic range article. 95% percent of the people in the US drive less than 100 miles a day. I have had an EV going on 7 years now and range just isn’t an issue. So easy to charge at night. We use one of our gas cars for trips or heavier driving days.
Why is there such mutually exclusive thinking when it comes to cars? It isn’t automatically EV or ICE, it can be EV and ICE, since most families are multi-car families anyway. I look at EV as a choice among many choices. I like having both for different reasons. Right now the EV has been our most used vehicle during the current gas prices.

>We are literally putting the government in control of whether or not we can recharge our vehicles or not. All they need to do is flip a switch and all EV drivers are confined to their home area.
“We” are doing nothing; Pete the Butt is trying for this along with always-on tracking and speed limiters (soon to be tied to social media score!)
Of course there’s no reason private industry or individuals can’t have charging capability and apprarently they do (disclaimer: I own no EVs so this is just what came up in my quick search ... https://www.plugshare.com/)
Should the cost of replacing the EV battery be consider when comparing Electric cost to Gasoline cost?
Have fun, suckers 🤪
“To get the same thing in an ev the heat is now produced electrically (like a toaster) “
Tesla uses a reverse cycle compressor.
Have anyone worked on storing lightning strikes yet? (Another unreliable potential source..)
Good for you! Don’t forget to turn on the headlights and the dome light.
i propose a giant wheel, like you see in rivers, that catch the current and produce electricity- only mount on a car- (might have to raise some bridges and overpasses- but oh well, that is the price for saving muvver erff), so that it catches the wind, spins furiously, and recharges the battery as you drive=-
Sorry. I meant in the house. 😂. The truck use to idle in the driveway for a few hours. Now cost prohibitive.
You won’t be able to tow a trailer. You would have to stop and charge too often, and there aren’t enough charging stations.
If you run out of electricity on the highway, what kind of a tow truck will come? Won’t do any good to bring you 5 gallons of gas. Nope. Maybe give you a charge? Not very practical. The charge will take a long time - may be 15 - 30 minutes. And where will the tow truck go to get itself charged up? AAA membership for $500 a year? Ready for it?
The country is heading for big disaster, and the American public is totally ignorant of what’s going to happen.
No more getting into the family car for a long trip. And they plan to restrict air travel too.
Range? Who cares....
It is all about the 0-60 times, they are teh fastar.....

Well maybe don't run the AC and heat at the same time. I don't dispute the premise of the article but what a dumb statement.
Yes I saw that. It was a camper. So I guess sometime in the 2030’s nobody will be using the campgrounds in places like Yellowstone or Yosemite.
Well not just that but come to think of it, the tourist industry in the United States will be dead. No more mountain or beach holidays for the little people.
i.e. a heat pump
