Imagine that, a car company making deceptive mileage claims. I never heard that before. They’ve only been doing it since EPA ratings were started. I have a Model S. Claims 400 miles per charge, but they only recommend doing a full charge if you’re going on a trip. I charge it to 90%. It claims my range is 350 miles. Reality, I get around 280 to 310, depending upon how fast I drive and how high I turn up the ac. Not a deal breaker by any stretch.
The difference is that everyday when I leave my home, my car is fully charged. Unlike an ICE car which is full only after a trip to the gas station.
Would I prefer that my car actually get 400 miles, of course, but the other benefits far out weigh this minor misrepresentation. Like being able to blow the doors off a Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, Vette, etc. Or my autopilot taking me from Miami to Fort Lauderdale, with little intervention. Or the fact I have 18k miles with zero service expense. Or perhaps because the regenerative breaking makes it much safer cornering or following other cars. The author clearly does not know his excrement from a pizza.
The 2022 Toyota Prius Prime for the discriminating virtue signaler who does not want to run out of charge while signaling
I just noticed this marketing innovation by Toyota for the 2022 Prius Prime that overcomes EV charging and range anxiety issues. A transitional hybrid that gets 52 mpg that driver can switch to EV mode and back to hybrid. Toyota has a good feel for consumer psychology. They realize there is a limited market for EVs because of range anxiety and away from home charging issues. So, they have produced a hybrid that can switch back and forth between hybrid and EV drive. Basically, drive most of a long trip in hybrid mode and switch to EV mode locally where you can charge it at home while you sleep. They are ingenious masters of consumer market psychology and supplying the demand. Now, they can go out and buy Twitter (to be renamed Twitota) with the profits from stealing a little EV market share from Elon

According to consumer Reports, when it comes to brands that most satisfy their owners, Tesla ranked number one with a score of 82, followed by Porsche at 80, Genesis at 75, and Chrysler and Dodge at 74.
I think they already are doing that
You’re just looking at the negatives. You can INCREASE the range at any temperature by simply driving downhill. So, by carefully planning your trip to go downhill coming and going, you’ll get that mileage back up there just where manufacturers say.
Read the entire article. Author was quite verbose, took a lot to say what only needed one paragraph. They need those paragraphs to introduce ads between them—so much for internet “journalism.”
I saw the video. The E150 was hauling an un-aerodynamic camper. Hauling a bass boat would have provided slightly better gas mileage IMO.
Someone mentioned on another thread it is 115 degrees in Phoenix today. What is the range with the AC on max?
YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY........................
The Auto writer out there, IMHO, is Eric Peters, I usually catch his column on Lew Rockwell.com
He has written a great deal on EV’s and their faults
check him out at ericpeters.com I think
If the leftist idiots didn't have fits at the very thought of diesels, we'd have diesel-electric cars that could probably get better mileage than most Gasoline-powered cars. Diesel-electrics are old and proven technology, and have been used in trains for decades. Imagine, a diesel engine providing electricity to a vehicle while running in its optimal power and efficiency band. None of the loss from starting, stopping, and shifting gears. You could buffer it through a reasonably small battery pack.

YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY..
Auto companies are lying? I’m shocked!
The estimated range on an SUV in the winter drops from about 280 miles in summer to about 160 miles in the winter.
So a 30% cut in range from 160 miles is crazy.......
Well, nevaDUH has already passed legislation “requiring” 50% by 2030 and 100% by 2050 of ZEE-ROW carbon emissions. Not sure what the penalty is for not meeting those goals. Yup, run Vegas on wind and solar. π€π€πβ
shocking...
I alternate the two on earth day. πβ
Someone here posted a pic of a AAA service truck for EVs a while back.
Some of my electricity costs 20 cents per kilowatt-hour.
What do you pay and what is the cost per mile that you drive?
