Ukrainian forces have struck a strategically important bridge in the southern part of the country, using what a Russia-appointed official said were rocket systems supplied by the United States.
The Antonivskyi Bridge crossing the Dnieper River was closed Wednesday following the Ukrainian strike.
Kirill Stremousov, deputy head of the Russia-appointed administration for the Kherson region, said the bridge was still standing after the late Tuesday strike, but that the road deck was full of holes.
Stremousov said Ukrainian forces used the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) to carry out the strike.
The bridge is a key link allowing Russia to supply its forces in southern Ukraine.
Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted the bridge strikes in a tweet Wednesday, saying Russian forces should take them as a warning.
Podolyak said the Russians “should learn how to swim across” the river or “leave Kherson while it is still possible.”

You do realize (wait, you and some others probably don’t) that the Russians have anticipated such occurrences given they will and are building pontoon bridges to circumvent?
S0, destroying their own infrastructure means they are winning. Lol. Yeah, you go with that.
Not there they won’t. Fast current and width preclude any pontoon bridge which, by the way, is easily taken out - even if the Russians were any good at making pontoon bridges, let alone long span ones.
Suppose using a ferry system eludes you?

It is my understanding that in addition to the strikes on the road bridge, there were strikes on the rail bridge. This will significantly impact the pace of logistical supply to that region.
Since this is turning into a logistics war, this will likely have significant impact in the local area of operations.
Yes. Ukraine hit the rail bridge last night, too.
I don’t see the Ukies gaining any territory, fact is every “ offensive “ the Ukies try end up in withdrawal or surrender ( Marioupol). Still waiting for the Ukies million man ( and woman) offensive. Do note they are on their 7th mobilization, announcing conscription of their woman ( not going over big in Ukraine), they are scrapping the bottom of the barrel with their 18-60 male conscription.
That said, Vlad has taken 98 percent of the Ethnic Russian provinces, the Ukies will now have to retreat across the wide open plains to the Dniepner, the only defensible option. Fish in a barrel.
Time for the corrupted little beggar Zelensky to step up to the negotiating table or he risks being ousted and/ or losing the whole enchilada.Defiance doesn’t win wars, territorial gains do.

I do not have to tell you who won the war. You know, the artillery did.

It is obvious the woke military and NATO never studied history. Vlad is “ re-teaching” them.
Pontoon bridges are themselves evenore vulnerable, and can’t carry the same weight of traffic.
All I am going to say is dont underestimate the Russians ability in such cases. The attack on this bridge has been ongoing for a while now by the HIMARs, and no one expects the Russians dont have an alternate plan?
Right completely eluded me because there aren’t any ferries on the river.
Saw video of the new hits on the bridge. The deck is like swiss cheese. Only foot traffic is safe enough.
Okie dokie.....
They will then just hit the pontoon bridge. EZPEEZE
Here is a dose of reality.
That said, as one mentioned, destroying your own bridges and infrastructure is NOT winning, unless you talk to a Ukie war cheerleader.
