A measure that would allow San Bernardino County supervisors to explore secession from the state of California could be put to county voters in November.
The Board of Supervisors approved the ballot measure at a meeting Wednesday night after the issue had been raised at several board meetings. Wednesday's vote was the first step in adding the measure to the ballot, to be followed by a second and final reading and vote scheduled for next week.
“Do the citizens of San Bernardino County want the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors to study all options to obtain its fair share of state and federal resources, up to and including secession?" the proposed measure reads. Voters would select yes or no.
Even if approved by voters, the county's secession from California, whether to become its own state or to become a part of a neighboring state, is extremely unlikely. The move would need to be approved by state legislators, Congress, the Senate and, eventually, the president.
At last week's board meeting, speakers and board members expressed frustration at the amount of funding San Bernardino County receives from the state, a point that made its way into the proposed ballot language.
“Our Sheriff’s Department, our judges, are constantly taxed with too much with not enough resources,” Jeff Burum, chairman of development firm National Community Renaissance, said at the meeting.

IIRC, if they try to become their own state, Congress would have to approve, which is unlikely.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe they’d join with Arizona. That county is larger than West Virginia, so they could become a new state.

The city off San Bernardino is one of the worst places to live in all of Ca. I know because I live in a nearby city. SB county is the largest county in the country. They won’t be succeeding.

There would be a slight problem of setting a boundary in the San Bernardino-Fontana conurbation. Boundaries would be modified: with the exception of Twenty Nine Palms give all the military posts to California. Joining Arizona would be the easier (but still very difficult) path than that of creating a new state.
They would probably be joined by a lot of other California counties. Outside the big cities and the immediate surrounding suburbs, California is blood red.
Pretty high hurdle to become a state. Can they go back to being a territory?
If it win in November maybe it’ll catch fire to the rest of the red states. Or we can force DC to secede from the rest of the country!

If they do, does that mean the rest of California can invade, kill all the white people and force them back into being part of the state sort of like what happened in 1861?
This would be their best bet if Arizona would be okay with it. Parts of San Diego County or the whole thing might look at doing it too. In the old days when SD Cty was red I'd say yes but these days it's too blue. I'd want to see the percentage of red vs blue voters in SB Cty too.
NorCal and inland central Cal has been looking at joining Idaho.
By joining another state they don't change the stars on the flag or the balance in the senate.
Really the only bad section of California is the coast and inland about 25 miles. Take that strip away and it gets red really fast. It's easy to see why so many Californian's are fed up with the unfriendly laws, policies, and super high taxes and cost of living.

If we send enough illegals, maybe they’ll pay TX to secede.
I looked up the information from CA Secretary of State...For the recall election...49.8% voted to recall Newsom...50.2% voted against recalling Newsom...
Sorry...I would not say that SB County is "red"...
This secession idea is a waste of time...It will not happen...If the supervisors put it on the ballot, I have a feeling that county voters will not pass it...
