Martha Stewart went to jail for lying to federal investigators. But for lying after stealing highly classified documents from the National Archives — in an apparent attempt to alter the historical record on terrorism, no less — former Clinton national security adviser and Kerry campaign adviser Sandy Berger will get a small fine and slap on the wrist. He will pay $10,000 and get no jail time. His security clearance will be suspended until around the end of the Bush administration — meaningless for a career Democrat like Mr. Berger. It makes us wonder who at the Department of Justice is responsible for letting such a serious offense go virtually unpunished.

Martha Stewart plead guilty for the crime of claiming she was innocent of a crime she never was charged with, as fake news printed false stories about Stewart being the lover of a CEO insider. It is a crime to lie to the FBI ONLY if the lie is proven to be “intentional” & “material”, but courts & prosecutors have recently begun to spin some bizarre definition of what “material” means. Comey charged Stewart with securities fraud for claiming she was innocent of insider trading—-charges which are illegal, You would have to prove Stewart was guilty of insider trading FIRST, before you could charge her with an intentional & material lie about it. ..but of course—-Stewart was NOT an insider at all, she was accused of selling a small amount of stock based on the tip of an insider she didn’t even know. Nobody was harmed because Stewart sold a small amount of stock before it crashed….& prison time is absurd in such a case.
Comey also is the one who illegally appointed a special counsel to prosecute the outing of Valerie Plame, who was NOT a spy……and so no crime was committed to lie about. The law did not apply to Plame….who was another Deep State partisan.
