The bottom line is this: These resources are absolutely not about increasing audit scrutiny on small business or middle-income Americans. The investment of these important resources is designed to support honest, compliant taxpayers. Our investment is designed around a Treasury directive that audit rates do not rise relative to recent years for households making under $400,000.
We all want a fair and impartial system where everyone contributes their fair share, no more and certainly no less. A robust, visible tax enforcement effort focused on high-end tax evaders and those supporting them is a priority. Underpayments by tax evaders shift the burden of operating our great country onto honest, hard-working Americans who follow the law.
With this new law, honest taxpayers will see badly needed, meaningful service improvements at the IRS. The IRS should be able to answer the phones and process information - including tax returns - in a timely manner. Enhanced IT systems and taxpayer services will mean that honest taxpayers will be better able to comply with the tax laws, ultimately resulting in a lower - yes, lower - likelihood of being audited and a reduced burden on them.
To set the record straight on this important legislation and dispel any lingering misperceptions, here are some key facts to keep in mind:
False Statement: The IRS is hiring 87,000 armed special agents to harass taxpayers.
Reality: Absolutely false. The majority of new hires the IRS makes will be those who answer the phones, work on processing individual tax returns or go after high-end taxpayers or corporations who are avoiding their taxes.

If recent events have taught us anything, any new stringent law enforcement will be targeted against ‘enemies of the swamp’.
We’re going after tax evaders.
So the Biden crime family are the first on the list?.
School debt forgiveness is that considered income ?
That tears it ... now we know, for sure, that they're planning to harass, bother, and PROSECUTE normal peaceable citizens and their businesses.
Tax evasion is what the newly hired IRS agent, with a quota and a gun, is specifically charged with proving you guilty of. Facts don't matter.
Yeah, I buy that.
The IRS should be a footnote in history
People have no idea how deviant this scheme is. If we are supposed to be capitalist (I know we aren’t really capitalist, and drift further every day) wtf kind of taxation scheme confiscates large swaths your capital before you even see it? Such malignant deviancy leads to:
govt knowing every asset you own
govt knowing every place you spend money
govt being able to cripple you with tax audits carrying possible prison time
govt being able to tax you for your neighbor’s benefit
govt being able to grow out of control
being forced into the arms of central bankers, thus paying interest to borrow what you could not save from confiscation by govt.
The Us gov mt was intended to be funded by tariffs- which is where DJT was going, and is partly why he is where he is now!
Yeh, sure. 🙄. They will be lucky to get 87 applications.
The FBI could say the same thing, but now we know differently.
When did the IRS get an OP-ED page?
Wasn’t there something like that back during the unwinding of the mortgage crisis?
Bend-over...you want regular or premium?
Unreported income, especially if it’s already been reported to the IRS, is about the quickest way to get nailed.
I've long held that ALL POLITICAL DONATIONS SHOULD BE ANONYMOUS. My reasoning is that they can't sell influence if they don't know who is buying. Americans should be allowed to donate any amount the wish to any party or candidate the choose; that's FREEDOM. But they should not be able to purchase outcomes through BRIBERY.
The potential for attacks on political opposition through the tax system is another strong reason for that anonymity.
If it's already been reported, is it unreported? How does that work?
70 of the 87 ought to be from our side infiltrating the agency to report on any audits being triggered by political activity.
OOPS! THEY wish...
1a) You do some kind of work for someone else, they pay you for it.
1b) You sell something to someone else.
2) The above mentioned someone else reports paying you to the IRS
3) You fail to report the proceeds of sale or work as income
4) IRS bends you over a barrel and rapes you. Repeatedly.
HA! So true. 😆
OK, got it. I hire Joe the carpenter to do a small job on my rental house, and deduct the cost as a business expense. His invoice is my proof of the expense. But by using it as that I have a ratted him out if he does not report the income.
