Sports radio was talking about this today. It is not completely ignored.

The Babe played in 151 games in 1927 - 154 game schedule, but he only played in 151.
Judge has played 135 - 16 to go.

The Babe was a first rate pitcher before switching over to become a hitting sensation.

This is the first I heard of this. In earlier days, somebody with 54 homers in early September would be front page news. I guess this is an indication of how professional sports has fallen out of favor, particularly with our younger people. When I was growing up, even male adults would typically turn to the sports section before anything else in the newspaper.
Anyway, with nearly a month of games left in the season, Mike Judge has a decent shot at 60.

Babes 714 homers reads like a list of if he’s up, it’s outta here. the consistency of dingers is very impressive indeed.
no wonder everyone expected him to hit a homer when he was up, because he nearly did.

Baseball is interesting with the mountain of statistics they keep on every game.
Babe Ruth could argued that he is the great baseball player of all time, based on his hitting plus his pitching records.

That’s nice, and Judge sounds like an very admirable young man, but nobody’s paying attention.

He is not going to break the record of 60 in 151 games.

Judge doesn't appear to be on steroids. What doesn't get mentioned are a few changes that people forget: the letter high strike doesn't get called anymore, and the pitching mound has been lowered at least twice since the Babe did this, which affects the pitchers velocity and breaking balls.

1) Judge plays on Little League Fields, Yes Ruth had a short 285’ RF porch but Yankee Stadium in the 1920’s was still 460’ in gaps and 490’ straight away Center. Not to mention the other large stadiums around the league Ruth had to contend with.

The Babe hit 60 in 154 games, and that record may be the most iconic in all of sports."Iconic" can be a bit vague in this case. But if he means "most unattainable", then it's an incorrect statement. The iconic record that will never be broken is Dimaggio's 56-game hitting streak. A couple of guys got into the 40s before the semi-intentional walks began to make a mess of their streaks.
And even if that scurrilous scheme didn't occur, hitting 56 games in a row is dicey at best. You've got to have incredible bat control to even approach 56. Most guys today don't even recognize the concept of bat control.

Between the political nonsense and all the rule changes, I gave up on watching baseball. It’s not the same game. And I used to have the TV tuned to a game a lot.

Let them beat his record with the same number of games he played; all these so-called Babe Ruth record breakers do it with more time to play.

Every form of competition that exists — from badminton to chess — is rife with performance-enhancing drugs. And especially among the professional ranks, you’re naïve if you think anyone can be counted as clean just because they say they are.
Not to forget that for more than a decade Lance Pharmstrong had the world convinced he was clean. Just because he’s your hero doesn’t mean he isn’t lying.
The anti-doping tests are fallible and easily fooled. There are reliable and widely-available adulterants and masking agents for everything from steroids to human grown hormone to EPO, and they guys who aren’t doping probably aren’t winning either.
