A woman is claiming her late father was one of the most prolific serial killers in American history, responsible for the deaths of 50 to 70 women during a span of more than 30 years.
Lucy Studey, who chose to have herself identified publicly, told Newsweek that her father, Donald Dean Studey, who died in 2013 at the age of 75, had her and her siblings help him move the bodies of the female murder victims buried near a well on his property outside Thurman, Iowa.

I have misgivings about the leniency towards serial killers close relatives and spouses, I suspect they sometimes have more involvement or at least knowledge than they let on. Ted Bundy and his woman was an example as she said she could never get the courage up to report her suspicions. Yet even worse in this case the children actually helped him bury the bodies for years and could have stopped so many deaths.
Nice of her coming forward now that the statute of limitations has run out.
(She and her siblings would be accessories after the fact, based on my watching of the ID channel. Unlike murder, there is a statute of limitations, I suspect.)
I'm wondering why their claims aren't sufficient to supersede the need for permission from current owners?
I didn’t read the whole story, but what I saw appeared to be a daughter openly admitting to having been an accessory to murder multiple times. I hope she understands the Pandora’s Box of possible consequences she has decided to open up.

If true lots of folks missing family member are at least going to get closure.
They had cadaver dogs at several sites and dogs detected something. One site had multiple hits.
Okay. So, legally, she free. Now, comes the court of public opinion, the way people in her city, in her neighborhood will now see her and the rest of that family. Some of those neighbors may have known the father and may be understanding toward the now adult children.
Law enforcement could get a search warrant from a judge, but would prefer to have consent. There are also difficulties inherent in trying to go back to the judge and seek a second search warrant to search the same place, for the same thing. Finally, law enforcement has a dilemma -- the could be nothing there, less than a handful of sets remains, or 50+ sets of remains. If it is the latter, this would probably be the largest crime scene investigation in State history. Given that the alleged perp is dead, better to line up resources ahead of time.
Of course, it is better to get landowner’s permission. I’m a landowner and don’t even like it when surveyors do their stuff without informing us. But they began investigating in 2021! Getting the pooches to sniff it out just happened lately and got the ball rolling.

So she knew all along? Lock her up and throw away the key. God only knows how many more murders she’s responsible for by not stopping him.

How long is unclear. From another article it said:
“ Studey told the publication her angry and regularly drunk dad would typically smash or kick the heads of his victims inside a trailer where the family lived.”.
And
“ She also said he made sure his children knew what he was doing, though it is unknown if her other siblings have talked with authorities, Newsweek reported. Her brother reportedly killed himself at 39.”
Sounds like they knew and participated for a while to some degree at least with the bodies. Also I’m guessing they were not all that young as he used them to help him. Not likely to need help from 5 year olds etc.
As far as it taking some superwoman feat of courage did the kids ever consider an anonymous tip?
