Kamala Harris mocked for gushing over a 'yellow school bus': ‘They really can’t let her talk in public’

Vice President Kamala Harris experienced a new round mockery after touting her love of "yellow school buses" during her Seattle appearance on Wednesday.

Harris spoke at Lumen Field in Seattle with a backdrop of four electric school buses to announce nearly $1 billion being awarded to school districts to replace older buses with electric vehicles. This funding came in part from the bipartisan infrastructure bill passed in 2021.

During her speech, Harris commented on the nostalgia of a "yellow school bus."

"Who doesn't love a yellow school bus, right? Can you raise your hand if you love a yellow school bus? Many of us went to school on the yellow school bus, right? It’s part of our experience growing up. It’s part of a nostalgia, a memory of the excitement and joy of going to school to be with your favorite teacher, to be with your best friends and to learn. The school bus takes us there," she said.

These comments were mocked on Twitter as another example of embarrassing moments from the vice president.

"Democrats have been hiding Kamala, but she just had a press conference and talked about yellow school buses and my goodness they really can’t let her talk in public about anything," Radio host Clay Travis tweeted.

Question to Californians:

Was Kamala this obviously a nitwit when running for election as state Atty General and US Senator? I don’t remember her being this lame in the early Dem primary debates of the last cycle.

I wonder if the electric buses are made in China.

Most states have “buy American” clauses in the bid package. Can’t comment on Wash State.

I thought Kalala was traumatized by Joe Biden and bussing.

They are so much bigger than the short bus she used to ride in.

Were I a school bus driver, the LAST thing I’d want is to be stuck on a bus full of less-than-well-behaved children when the batteries die.

I’ve read that this boondoggle is the equivalent of a single new electric school bus for each school district in the country. Which is about all the grid could handle.

So who gets the diesel in the upcoming big shortage - trucks with groceries or school buses?

It would have actually been less awkward if she had just broke out into that song than making those comments.

I walked to my neighborhood school, and rode a bike when I was a little older. I always felt sorry for the kids who had to waste over an hour a day with the stupid bus.

Sometimes, as Kamala, she can speak well. She _almost_ torpedoed Biden’s campaign in their first debate over his anti-bussing stance early in his career. But most of the time she’s Iakala and babbles when put on front of a microphone.
