My understanding is that immigration is a Federal issue and the courts will not allow states to do their own immigration laws.

I doubt it. unless I'm mistaken The Big Guy and his co-conspirators have the last word...unless,perhaps,a Federal judge steps in.

If AZ and Fla go our way this will get very interesting. Tx not so much, Abbott is more Pence than he is Trump.

Any invaded state can request federal help to repel an invasion, which must be provided under the federal Constitution as per Article IV, Section 4.

Refusal would permit the barring (by federal court order) from government employment of a refusenik (such as President Joe Biden) as per Amendment XIV, Section 3.

Wish a handful of states could refuse federal funding.
That could get interesting.

President Trump enacted such a policy. Going as far as allowing municipalities to make those decisions even if their state government didn’t.

I don’t know of any that took him up on it as they were afraid to become targets of the Left.

Shamefully, most folks don’t really understand the financial burden. The Feds pay all the bills the first couple of years and then the state taxpayers start footing the bill.

The Tennessee legislature tried suing the Soetero administration over the Medicare/Medicaid payments that got dumped onto the state will all the Muslims in Murfreesboro. The Governor and AG, at the time, didn’t sign on to the suit so the legislature had to hire outside counsel. The case wove it’s way through the courts for some time. Finally, being dismissed with prejudice by a judge that said since the Governor and AG weren’t on board, the legislature had “no standing” and the use of outside/private counsel was improper. Imagine hearing that the government body most closely associated to the people, that state legislature, had no standing representing the people.

Shamefully, DeSantis and all the other Republican Governors don’t capitalize on this decision, unite and have all the Republican Governor’s, AGs and state legislatures sue at the same time. I know Kemp would never do it as he was the first, and maybe only, Governor that actually wanted the Afghani’s, being the corrupt POS that he is.

Governors take federal support to bring in the people who migrate into this country in many cases.

Federal funding equals federal control.

UN-International Law at best only allows countries to shift the migrants not ‘throw them out’.

Australia deals with migrants by shipping them to Indian Ocean and South Pacific islands.

The Biden Administration according to an article in “The Hill” the other week concerned about Haitians coming in big numbers by boat.

They are thinking offshore housing at Guantanamo and elsewhere.

It’s a mess so Abbott and DeSantis move em around they don’t ship them overseas.

A lot of people got a thrill from watching DeSantis ship illegals to liberal areas but notice DeSantis didn’t ship them back overseas.

DeSantis has not promised to seek the invocation of Article 44 of the Refugee Convention to get the US out from under it.

The Refugee Convention is horribly abused as it creates a (rebuttable) presumption of admissibility and legally merchantable excuse for unlawful entry. This is followed by full welfare entitlement.

I have some level of distrust of any leading US politician who has failed to request a US end to legally entangling Refugee Convention participation.

Does it matter? If Trump banned illegal immigration, the D states would still allow it and stick their finger up at him. In the red states, the Ds would ORGANIZE rogue groups of American Coyotes to help the terrorists and scumbags through. And they would stick their finger up at Trump. And I'm not even talking about the courts yet.

Republicans and CONservatives are stupid and cowardly. And fat and lazy. They will not go out and shoot at them. They will not go out and do what needs to be done to stop the invasion. We have been conquered. It is too late. In 10 years we will be up to our necks with squat short legged,. fat assed goblins that look like Fred Flinstone (and that's just the women). And you will learn what it is like to be fourth rate shitizens in a turd world country. But by then China will have perfected a bioweapon to kill us all, with our funding and assistance, of course.

The Biden admin will do everything it can to force illegals into red areas - why they're flying them in in the middle of the night or into lesser used, out of the way airports.

Remains to be seen how the new Republican congress will handle this issue:

you know the saying when the guns are illegal, then only the criminals have guns?

same applies, no amount of laws from the big government is going to stop rapists from coming into this country, just because it is illegal.

a more effective method would be walls north and south, document enforcement at the airports. I would even support former east German style gun turrets at the border.

It’s a question of what governors must do to protect resident-citizens. And this goes for everything a federal agancy does within a state’s borders. We are reaching the point where states must simply say no to federal government tyranny. Who knows what this looks like? Just a move to defend liberty.
