This is a long video, but so cool. A mix of every character actor you've ever seen to future big stars. It's a long video because Cannon ran for a long time. People must've liked it.

The 1970’s were best time for drama television. The stories were written by mature writers, who had actual life experience.
I’d take many of the 1970’s dramas over anything in television today.

Cannon was just another fat guy to me, but my parents remembered him from his radio days. Wikipedia says he also narrated “Rocky & Bullwinkle” (as well as “The Fugitive”), but I didn’t hear any connection.

I checked it out, and Slim Fast is not on the list.

It was popular. SNL did a hilarious bit that was a mishmash of Cannon and a drug commercial. You can guess what happened to the back of Cannon’s pants as he was running after a criminal, gun drawn, and the voiceover intoned “oily discharge”. Of course other horrible side effects affected poor Cannon, too. Ah, back when SNL was still funny.
There were lots of jokes about such a fat guy could keep running and running after bad guys without collapsing or having a heart attack back then, too.

Pretty good show. Better than spin-off Barnaby Jones.

I’ve started to collect 70s shows (mainly crime dramas) on DVD, especially those that aren’t an available to stream like The Streets of San Francisco and Vega$, Barney Miller and Night Gallery. All originally aired in the most part before I was born, but times seem simpler. Cannon is one show I look to buy soon.

I didn’t watch it at the time either. I was more into the sitcoms at the time and there were some great ones in the early/mid 70’s.
I just remember laughing at the little blurb in our local paper’s entertainment section when it was all over. “CBS fires Cannon.”

I think somebody has too much time on his hands. Even Bill Conrad himself thought Cannon was a terrible show. He was a huge radio star, appearing on just about all of them at one time or another, and starred as Marshall Dillon before the television series began.

just wow... the quality of actors never dropped off

I like the idea but my one problem is that editor could have cross faded the segments instead of direct cuts.
