Idaho student murders: Haunting theory about vicious killings revealed by father of victim
Washington Examiner ^ | December 05, 2022 09:04 AM | by Jack Birle, Breaking News Reporter |

The father of one of the University of Idaho students murdered in their home last month shared his theory about the murderer's target based on their movements once they got in the house.

Steven Goncalves, who is the father of the late Kaylee Goncalves, noted that the murderer's entry point on the middle floor and only going upstairs leads him to believe it may have been intentional.

"I'm not a professional, so I want to specify that, but they've said the entry point was the slider or the window. It was the middle floor. So to me, he doesn't have to go upstairs. His entry and exit are available without having to go upstairs or downstairs. Looks like he probably may have not gone downstairs. We don't know that for sure, but he obviously went upstairs. So I'm using logic that he chose to go up there when he didn't have to," Goncalves said on Fox News's Fox and Friends on Sunday.

Goncalves would not definitely say if he believes his daughter or any roommates were directly targeted in the attack. He also said he has confidence that law enforcement are doing all they can to solve the murders despite closely guarding details of the investigation.

Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Goncalves, 21, were slain in their beds in Moscow, Idaho, on Nov. 13. The four roommates, who lived on the middle and upper floors, were all stabbed with a large knife in the chest and upper body, per local authorities.

The two surviving roommates who lived on the lower floor, Dylan Mortensen, 19, and Bethany Funke, 19, recently spoke out for the first time, saying how much they missed their roommates and detailed the difficult time they were having processing the murders they slept through.

No suspect or motive has been named in the case yet, and other details about the murders have been sparse as police continue to investigate the deaths of the four students.

Is it certain that the killer was not a woman?

Don’t get me wrong. This is a particularly heinous crime. I hope they catch the person(s) who did this and give ‘em the needle or chair.

But is it just me or does Fox News have an exceedingly odd level of interest in this case? Every day since the murders happened, there’s a new article on their website.

You have a theory on that interest?

What's odd about it? What kind of level of interest should be enough?

A way to the local PD’s feet to the fire. I am sure they just wish it would go away. They may have no real clue who did it or worse still know who did it but don’t have indictable evidence. Read ‘The Girl on the Volkswagon floor’ for a case in Dayton Ohio where the cops know who the killer but can’t nail him , or the case of Vista Volunteer Nancy Morgan where the victim’s killer has been taunting the local cops for years.

Heard some additional information as to why the initial 9-1-1 call was reported as an “unresponsive person” rather than “people are dead.” Both the surviving roommates had gone upstairs to see what was going on. They came across Ethan first and freaked out due to the scene. They both left the house screaming. One of them then tried to call 9-1-1 and apparently collapsed/passed out from the shock. The other roommate was screaming incoherently about Ethan inside. Two passers-by had at this point come to the roommates. One took the phone from the girl who passed out and then completed the 9-1-1 call by saying the girl making the call had passed out. They paramedics arrived and after much confusion, went into the house and realized it was more than just a person who’d passed out.

The FBI has rounded up and incarcerated thousands of Trump supporters based solely on their cell phone pings being on the Capitol grounds on January 6th.

I’m sure the FIB could get some phone pings for that small town apartment around the time of the murders and have a suspect in custody in minutes.

This is why I generally eschew any sleep aids. I might take a valerian every so often, or one 25 mg benadryl. Nothing stronger. (SORRY, A$$HOLE NEIGHBS. NOT GOING TO LET MY GUARD DOWN FOR ONE SECOND EVEN AT THE COST TO MY HEALTH.)

Sex and murder sells. Fox is in the money-making business, (as any company should be).

That's what I heard too, and it explains a lot. Considering the horrible pressure the two surviving roommates were under, and all the speculation about them being stupid beyond belief or even involved, I don't understand why the police haven't released this information (if it's true). There's no reason not to release it, and it would be of immense comfort to the surviving roommates and their families. It seems the police are keeping a lot of things secret that they don't have to.

This case sort of fits the template for many of the murder cases that seem to attract media interest. The fact that two of the victims were cute, young blond women seems to be an element that draws an inordinate amount of curiosity. The lack of a motive or suspect also adds to the story, as a mystery tends to make people want to follow the story until the questions are answered.

Fox News is after stories that will give them the most number of clicks or page views. And as long as each article on this story delivers, you can be sure their will be more articles.

and cops get mad when they cant solve a case...they love patting each other on the back, and dont like to look bad. ive read books on how badly the L.A.P.D Robbery/Homicide division screwed up the Manson Murders in 1969...and mainly out of purely being stubborn. Any fool could see that the Tate homicide and the LaBianca killing the next night ..that they were connected and done by the same people. 2 days into the investigation, LA County Sheriff Homicide even contacted LAPD with the similarities with other crimes in the area, and were told to take a hike...they were convinced the Tate killings were “drug” related..if it wasn’t for Susan Adkins running her mouth in jail 3 months after ...they probably never would have solved that horrible crime...

LAPD D’s were being told from on high the two cases were ‘unrelated’. The people at the top in the City Bldg and the Parker Center wanted no connection in fear that the city would dissolve into mass panic over a ‘murder cult’ prowling the city. Better the LoBianca murders never be solved than have the city go ballistic and the city and PD leadership take the heat.
