Will the real Scott Stallings please stand up?
Professional golfer Scott Stallings was “literally checking [his] mailbox five times a day” for his invitation to the Masters Tournament in April only to find it frustratingly empty, he recalled in a Twitter post. Then, on New Year’s Day, he received a private message from another Scott Stallings who claimed to have mistakenly received his long-expected invitation.
“I received a FedEx today from the Masters inviting me to play in the Masters tournament April 6-9 2023. I’m 100% sure this is NOT for me. I play, but wow! Nowhere near your level. It’s a very nice package complete with everything needed to attend,” the message read.
Stallings added that he believed the confusion wasn’t just limited to their similar names. Their wives are both named Jennifer and both reside in Georgia.
Stallings — the professional golfer, that is — had a good reason to be nervous. Golfers aren’t officially invited to the upcoming year’s Master’s Tournament until receiving a physical mail invite from the Augusta National Golf Club, Golf Digest reported. Though players might qualify, the tournament committee in Augusta reserves the right to invite or disinvite whomever it chooses.
Stallings, who has not played in the Masters since 2014, made a spectacular comeback in 2022 with seven top-10 finishes, including second-place finish at the BMW Championship at Wilmington Country Club. Typically that would secure an invitation to the Masters, Golf Digest reported, but as other players posted their invitations to the tournament last month, Stallings was undoubtedly feeling a bit left out.
Stallings will indeed be playing in Augusta where Scottie Scheffler will be defending his 2022 victory.
The real pro golfer should bring this guy and his family that day, great story and photo op to share.
Maybe he’ll get a Green Jacket by mistake.
I seem to recall a few years back, some joker faked his way into a PGA tournament and he was soooo bad they finally had to ask him to leave...................
Yes, I would if I were him!....................
Are the US Open and British Open not truly open, then? I mean, there’s the US Chess Open. It doesn’t matter how bad you are - if you pay the entry fee you can get in.
IIRC, this guy was a total duffer..............
Don’t know details of British, but there are slots in the US Open that you can compete for in qualifier tourneys

Yes, those tournaments are open. Any golfer can enter the qualifiers, although you should be a scratch or better to have any chance.
“‘Checking The Mailbox Five Times A Day’”
Found the problem. /s
open versus PGA only.
That reminds me of that comic strip scene where one Spiderman is pointing at his mirror image or Doppelganger.
The mirror image is pointing right back at him.
He should invite this guy and his wife to the Masters. That would be awesome!
yep, would be a nice move on Scott’s part....
I think the masters should even let the first guy tee off with the pro guy, and see how his tee shot goes. This could be a huge funny win all around for everyone.
Cute story.
So, will Scott Stallings invite Scott Stallings an invite to the Masters all expenses paid? 🙂
Seems odd, you would think that the Masters committee would get their contact info from the PGA Tour and why would they have the other guy’s contact info on file?
I would have just showed up with my rental clubs...LOL.

More likely scenario - Pro has the duffer caddy for him in the Par 3 event on Wednesday with VIP tent passes for the main event.
