DR. NICOLE SAPHIER: 'Miracle' Weight Loss and ADHD Medications Are Being Handed Out Like Candy by America's Medical Industry... to People Looking for Short Cuts… Creating a Shortage of Drugs for Those REALLY in Need. How Sick Can You Get?
Daily Mail ^ | 26 January 2023 | DR. Nicole Saphier

Nicole Saphier, MD is a physician at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, an assistant professor at Weill Cornell Medical College and bestselling author of, 'Panic Attack.' Her opinions are her own and not reflective of her employers.

Not every problem can be fixed with a pill. Not every problem should be fixed with a pill.

But in an increasingly dangerous trend, America's medical industry is presenting drugs as a quick and easy solution for nearly everything that ails us – be it major, minor, or even non-existent.

Now, America is running out of the prescription medications that sick people need, because otherwise healthy people are gobbling them up.

If that sounds insane, that's because it is!

There is perhaps no better example of this than the skyrocketing demand for the drug Adderall, a commonly prescribed stimulant used to treat ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder).

In 2021 alone, 41.4 million Adderall prescriptions were handed out to patients, an increase of more than 10% from the previous year.

The number of prescriptions exploded at such a rate that, according to the Federal Drug Administration, 'there is not sufficient supply to continue to meet U.S. market demand.'

As a result, some ADHD-sufferers can't find the appropriate drug to treat their condition.

And it doesn't stop there.

In recent months, demand for Ozempic, or semaglutide, has soared.

Ozempic is an injectable medication that helps people with type 2 Diabetes manage their blood sugar and prevent dangerous complications. But an unintended side-effect of the drug was that it's an effective appetite suppressant.

I have ADHD and I don’t take drugs. I find there is a lot of value in biofeedback and checklists and behavioural modifications.

Why would a non ADHD person want Adderall? What does it do?

For normal people, it’s an amphetamine, so it would some value if you’re crunched for time in school.
I’m not saying it’s wise to start.

I know people who take that as a diet drug. Easier that taking a walk and eating a salad.

Could a politically popular war on drug companies also have something to do with supply restrictions? Can’t figure out what any firm would want to get into the drug business nowadays. Things like ruinous lawsuits from druggies who can’t control their drug urges. Leftists trying to effectively revoke patents by price controls on patented drugs. Rising taxes on corporations.

My guess is that similar to Ozempic it's a appetite suppressant.

my dtr gets horrible neck spasms that actually throw her to the floor....she needs her anti spasmodic meds but she also gets botox every 3 months....

it makes me a little irritated when I see people running to the doctor for botox for wrinkles...

there are so many people suffering from contracture illnesses and paralysis that could benefit from botox more than people needing to try to stay perpetually young....it doesn't work anyway.

I drive a lot for work and I keep a couple spare Adderall in my car, just in case. It gives you a ton of energy and incredible focus. There is no way you are falling asleep driving if you take that. I just know to expect I will feel like crap the next day. But about once a month or so they help. Its been a long time for me(I am near 50), but it feels a lot like cocaine so I can see it is ripe for abuse.

To: When do we get liberated?

A decade ago Adderall was referred to as the “breakfast of champions” at America’s top graduate schools.

I take Ozempic for diabetes. And I have lost weight with it and my appetite is down since I started it. When I need a refill I have to call around to find a pharmacy that has it and when I find one I have to hop in the car and drive right over.

Ozempic doesn't suppress appetite through the brain. It effects the GI system so you don't feel hungry. That same effect is what causes blood sugars and the A1c to go down.

Told by a friend who took her son’s medicine it makes you nervous like you’d crawl out of your skin. But it works differently for her ADHD son. It zonkers him if he takes too much.
