I imagine this will be pretty much a non-news story. Makes sense. Just do it. Move on.
But you know if Trump did this, it would be the end of the world and an assault on Mother Nature. An act of hate.

Can’t happen. Somewhere in the US, a judge (times 100) is slavering to order an injunction against delisting for another 10 years of study. Causes and organizations are big business. Entire careers are made in protecting wolves and bears (and toads and owls, etc.).
Last year in Montana—during hunting season with no particular evidence of overkill—the quotas were set aside for a new set of hunting rules. By a judge.
Montana has yet to meet a kill quota for wolves. The population continues to grow far beyond the original target (same with bears).
But the wolf advocates keep stalling and fighting to stop the hunts. Likewise with bears.
