Ouch. Prayers out. Thank God it didn't hit an artery, but I'm sure this won't be an easy situation.
I know people are in favor of keeping a gun chambered for reaction time purposes vs. an attacker, but things like this make me wary.

We are thankful that the injury even though severe was not life theatening for him. We ask for Your guidance for those in his care. I hope you recover swiftly and as painlessly as possible. Also, please replace that P9 as it is not safe as a carry gun - reasons explained in my and others’ posts above, it isn’t drop safe at all.
Maybe consider a modern, safer polymer pistol?
