Daily life in the 21st century continues to outcrazy the satirists.
It takes a satire site, apparently, to tell the truth and spare us some of the craziness being promoted every day. I’m talking about South Park, though others like the Babylon Bee daily skewer the imbecilic nonsense found in the mainstream press and televised news.
For some time now the duke and duchess of Sussex have been playing the victims from a background of great luxury, demanding privacy as they seek maximum publicity. Like me, South Park had enough of this and ran a fabulous parody of the couple doing a Worldwide Privacy Tour. I kept hearing Danny Kaye singing “The King is in the Altogether” about the Emperor’s new clothes that weren’t as I watched this.
At last, these odious grifters were called on their game.
The episode follows cartoon characters who claim to want to stay out of the spotlight but go on various talk shows. They resemble the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, but aren’t given their official names on the show. If you missed the episode, or even if you saw it but missed some Easter eggs, here’s what you need to know. I don’t hate them or think of them very often until I read something like this but they are out there calling themselves victims and it’s just pitiful.
Everyone has problems and even tragedies in their lives and they think the world is unfair to them. They are the kind that just count their problems and totally ignore their blessings.
don’t care about them at all. There are thousands of B list TV actresses with far more air time than Megan ever had. There are numerous spares out their that many people can’t name anymore. Why does anybody care about these two. They have wealth given to them. They have only given up the wealth that had strings attached. They sell out their relationship with the real royal family. Nobody cares about them. Its just the dirt about William or the queen or the king that people care about. Are they invited to the next event or not. Of course they will come. As soon as they stop going to the events they will disappear from view. Remember just a few years ago he was having Las Vegas orgies and she trying to get her first gig on TV. South Park has got it right. The media is just promoting them for click bate.

It’s ‘gold digging’ because the only claim to fame that they have is their claim to being (formerly) ‘royal’; and the only ‘job’ they have now is making bank on that.
I’ve pretty much lost interest in the ‘Tedious Two’, except for my concern about the difficulty they are causing to an important institution which is valued by millions of people.
There is nothing INSIDE of these two; all they do is parrot stuff they’ve seen or heard somewhere else.
(And what do you suppose they ‘know’ that nobody else knows?)
They must have some reasons for LEAVING the royalty.
Their 'claim to fame' as you call it is the opposite of gold-digging.
That the media wants to keep throwing money at them is not their fault.
With all respect, I think that’s a naive opinion of what’s going on with them.
If she’s a gold-digger wouldn’t she want to STAY in the royalty?
If they have truly left the royalty, they would drop the use of their titles. Instead, they seem to want the glamour and respect that comes from the titles, but not the responsibility.
They now come across as hypocrites.
She’s a gold digger who thought Harry was much wealthier than he really was, and she wants much more than he has. But she doesn’t like to WORK; and still demands to always be the center of attention and most important person. This has caused her to make an ass of herself repeatedly.
Whatever one may think of the royals, they actually work. It’s not the free, easy life people think. Books published during the past few years report that she said, at one function (the birthday party for her own father in law) that she was ‘bored’ and wanted to leave; and it’s reported that on a royal tour she couldn’t believe she ‘wasn’t being paid for this’; and all the while she lived in the lap of luxury, with Charles paying for all her fancy clothes and lifestyle.
This extremely shallow person thinks she deserves high regard and riches just for being who she is, and her exorbitant opinion of her own ‘talent’ caused her to think she could do better for herself without the strictures (and pecking order) of royal life and duty. She even treated her own father, who did all he could to give her a good start in life, very badly.
(As anyone could have predicted, her plans are not panning out. Even mere ‘celebrities’ need to have some depth of talent and character to be really successful.)

You could say that YOU think that the reason is [...] but you can never say “She thought [...]” unless she told you “I think [...]
There has been plenty of eye-witness ‘testimony’ to her behaviors. When many different accounts ‘match up’ it usually indicates that they are true. And a lot of what she has done has been in front of the world.
The Crown had to launch an investigation into the complaints of her bullying of staff (whom she probably considered ‘servants’). She bullied a number of them into resigning.
Believe what you like. But there are very good reasons why so much of the public feels about these people as they do - H and M have EARNED it.
