Same year, I was reading about the experiments in extra-sensory perception by botanist J.B. Rhine, in which he attached electrodes to plants and had a congregation pray for them, and watched the plants' alpha wave reactions on "lie detector" equipment. He also experimented with plants just before someone approached them with scissors or loppers intending to prune them, and they reacted with panic. Same with brine shrimp just before they were to be dumped into boiling water. He was at Duke University for a long while. But his work and methodology are disputed.
