But for more than two months last year, on those very platforms, the boy was being sexually groomed by an adult who was 13 years older and hundreds of miles away. It started in private messages then moved into public view on Twitter.
It ended in a horror story. The boy’s father went to check on him one night and found him missing, his window open, the bedroom freezing. The boy was allegedly abducted by the man accused of grooming him, driven across state lines, and, prosecutors said, repeatedly sexually assaulted."

I think that Discord is the web site that was associated with guy accused of leaking DoD security documents. …and that is supposed to be normal for young boys?

The platform is aptly named.
Discord is an app. It’s basically a glorified chat platform. They are most often used by gamers to collaborate, and a “server” that is started by just about anyone is basically just a bunch of categorically separated chatrooms. It supports media sharing and conferencing too, if I am not mistaken. But a server is basically private, unless you get an invite.
That’s why the article brought up how this event was also in twitter, and thus less private. People should have been able to see what was going on in twitter. Why did no one notice, or do anything, is I think the point of the article.
It would be a shame if individuals like this groomer were suddenly found shot dead, just saying.
I think that the point of the article was say that Censorship is necessary.
This sounds suspiciously like another story that happened exactly the same way a couple of years ago. Cops misspelled the username, teen was abducted, etc, Only it was Facebook or some other social media..................

Discord is roughly similar to FR, actually. Just a chat board. I use it for online game discussions and organization as well.
They are so evil.
Indeed, the article barely questioned the fact that the parents had clear evidence of the grooming long before the boy was kidnapped, but seemed helpless against it. why, even the local police weren't competent enough to prevent it.
One must turn to the central nanny-state for safety!!

This teenage boy is already hooked on doing things behind his parents back, things he knows they disapprove of. He was stupid enough to provide the Groomer with the exact location of the family home, putting all of them in danger. This kid needs counseling to figure out why he has that compulsion. If not lurid sex, this could easily become some other addictive pattern of behavior, such as drug abuse. He is trying to fulfill some personal need.
Discord isn’t a website, it’s an app originally designed for voice communication in games that didn’t include voice communication. As the app has expanded it offered forum like text as well. Discord is supposed to be normal for young boys that like playing computer games. Predators go where the kids are.
The reporter named and photographed the boys parents. It would be rather easy to find out his name too. Bad decisions l for the parents to allow their names to be included in the article.
It’s not a website. It’s an app to create chat rooms, mainly for gamers who are playing games together and want a private place to hangout. Yes, it’s quite normal for young boys to use that app. It’s not so normal for people to post confidential documents there.

Nice that the parents have allowed their son’s name and picture out there for all the world to see. I sure wouldn’t have gone so public in this crazy world.
Obviously their son is some sort of gay. I’m guessing he was already leaning that way as a hetero child would not have participated with such a creature. Although their son was being taken advantage of because of his age, he was participating in this.
The left media acts like they care, but they don’t. It’s used as a cudgel to somehow implicate Musk.
They actively support an anything goes society with no consequences and they are leading up to where pedophilia will be normalized.

I would be a horrible dad right now. My chilren up to their highschool graduation would have no apps on their phone besides calling and texts, nor allowed to use “social media” web sites on any computer at home. They’d learn to have healthy relationship only with people they know for real, and in those relationships not need to be on “social media” with each other. Face to face is even more important at their age.
