Why, as of a few days ago his wife divorced him so he should have plenty of time now.
Berth and Rip move to Texas
Jamie is killed by just about anybody
Kayce and Monica sell their part of the ranch and move back to the reservation
Costner is a self centered fool. He’s putting his knee on the livelyhood of everyone on the series. It could have easily gone on for many more seasons, if you weren’t such a little girl...
Nonsense. Costner and the series gave these other actors lifetime careers. I really liked Costner in the mini-series about the Hatfields and McCoys.
John Dutton gets all wokey and goes native, becoming a lone figure dressed in feathers and buckskin on the prairie..................wait a sec.............
Dances with Buffalo
“He’s putting his knee on the livelyhood of everyone on the series.”
This is an overreaction. They are continuing the show with a new name. Worthy actors will be brought along. When you don’t like your job, you are allowed to quit.
With one exception (Field of Dreams where he was barely interesting) Costner puts me to sleep.
Everyone in Bozeman is celebrating
Maybe the Californians will go home now
No he’s not. They’ve already shown they can do story without him. And he is after all a movie guy, not a TV guy. TV is a grind, it’s hard to find time for other projects. And as a movie guy he’s not built for doing the same character over and over for years. The new show will do fine. It might, or might not, bring other actors from the show in. But all shows end, everybody in the business knows that. A 5 year gig is a great run, most TV gigs never go to series, they’re 3 weeks to shoot a pilot that might not even get aired. Actors spend more time looking for work than doing the work. Everybody is used to it.
I recently read a story about ‘Is Yellowstone a red-state show?’ The story showed ratings from around the country that sort of supported that thesis with the lowest ratings from NY and CA. I could understand the low ratings for CA as the show dumped on CA many times. And in NY, well in NY they hate any show that does not celebrate NY and it’s debauchery. But the ratings seemed to grow as one approached ‘fly-over country’. Interestingly the article mentioned ‘American Sniper’ as having similar ratings trends.
With Bruce Willis and Clint Eastwood calling it quits, why tie yourself to a television series character?
I bought the DVDs for the first 4 seasons. I’m currently in season 1. I hate to quit something I started, but I don’t mind admitting to a mistake. I don’t recommend the series.
The protagonists are unlikeable. I think we are wired, or trained, to root for the protagonist. So, I do. But really, they are mostly just a bunch of bad people with excuses. For those who remember, I liked Larry Hagman as JR better.
It was probably fun for him for a while. Getting to spend more time with a character. Playing around in the modern streaming age of “do whatever you want TV” with very little censorship. But eventually all new things stop being new. I’m surprised he stuck with it this long. And if you got Sheridan completely honest he probably would be too. I know he likes building shows around movie stars, but he’s gotta know these guys are used to 12 week shoots and onto the next project and will burn out on TV way faster than TV actors.
From what I read about “Yellowstone” that it is about a mean group of people thru the past century that live in Wyoming and dump bodies in Montana.
Just goes to show everyone is different, because to me ‘Field of Dreams’ was a drag. (best base ball movie for me is Robert Redford’s ‘The Natural’ and Costner’s best movie is ‘Open Range’.
I never watched and have never thought Costner was that great an actor. I just want to know why his wife filed for divorce with no warning.
It’s Dallas with better scenery....................
Just swap “Wyoming” and “Montana” in your sentence and you’re not far off.
