In recent years, debates about the fairness of allowing men to compete against women in sports and the morality of chemically and surgically castrating youth suffering from gender dysphoria have emerged as contentious topics in the United States.

While trans activists maintain that allowing men to compete in women's sports and body mutilating surgeries are necessary "gender-affirming healthcare," more Americans are pushing back against the idea that the solution to this social contagion among the nation's youth is sterilization by way of puberty blockers, opposite-sex hormones and body disfiguring surgeries.

Specifically, critics of policies allowing men to compete on women’s sports teams believe that doing so puts women and girls at a disadvantage in light of the biological differences between men and women that give males an advantage in sports.

These concerns about fairness, buoyed by real-world examples of trans-identified males breaking women’s sports records, have prompted 21 states to pass laws requiring athletes to compete on sports teams that align with their biological sex as opposed to their chosen identity.

As for sex-change procedures, concerns about the long-term effects of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries have led 18 states to ban minors from obtaining some or all procedures. The American College of Pediatricians has listed “osteoporosis, mood disorders, seizures, cognitive impairment” and sterility as potential side effects of puberty blockers while warning that cross-sex hormones can cause an “increased risk of heart attacks, stroke, diabetes, blood clots and cancers across their lifespan.”

Chloe Cole, a detransitioner who previously identified as a member of the opposite sex but has seen her discomfort with her biological sex subside as she got older, has attributed the mental health problems, including suicidal thoughts she experienced as a teen, to the double mastectomy she had done on her at age 15 in a lawsuit she has filed against the medical professionals who treated her for her gender dysphoria.

In addition to the mental health problems caused by sex-change surgeries, the procedures also leave behind unsightly scars formed following the removal of forearm or thigh tissue to create a fake, flaccid penis in trans-identified girls who also have their breasts removed and are left with unsightly scars on their chest. The office of Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis recently shared images of the damage caused by these elective surgeries.

While most are familiar with the female athletes and politicians who have spoken out against transing children or maintaining fairness in women's sports, several public figures with no direct stake in the debate have also come forward to take issue with popular culture’s rush to embrace policies that disadvantage or harm women and children.

Here's a list of four celebrities who have recently spoken out against trans ideology.

1. Paul Stanley

Paul Stanley, a member of the rock band KISS, weighed in on the push for the public to embrace body mutilating sex-change procedures for children and teens in a post on Twitter Sunday. “There is a BIG difference between teaching acceptance and normalizing and even encouraging participation in a lifestyle that confuses young children into questioning their sexual identification as though some sort of game and then parents in some cases allow it,” he said in a post titled “My Thoughts on What I’m Seeing.”

Stanley added: “There ARE individuals who as adults may decide reassignment is their needed choice but turning this into a game or parents normalizing it as some sort of alternative or believing that because a little boy likes to play dress up in his sister’s clothes or a girl in her brother’s, we should lead them steps further down a path that’s far from the innocence of what they are doing.”

“With many children who have no real sense of sexuality or sexual experiences caught up in the ‘fun’ of using pronouns and saying what they identify as, some adults mistakenly confuse teaching acceptance with normalizing and encouraging a situation that has been a struggle for those truly affected and have turned it into a sad and dangerous fad.”

In response to pushback over his comments, Stanley released another tweet Thursday contending that “while my thoughts were clear, my words were not. Most importantly and above all else, I support those struggling with their sexual identity while enduring constant hostility and those whose path leads them to reassignment surgery.”

“It’s hard to fathom the kind of conviction that one must feel to take those steps,” Stanley added. “A paragraph or two will remain far too short to fully convey my thoughts or point of view so I will leave that for another time and place.”

2. Dee Snider

Dee Snider, another rock star who performs with the band Twisted Sister, shared his thoughts as he came to Stanley’s defense.

Responding to Stanley’s initial tweet characterizing this social phenomenon as a “fad,” Snider recalled, “There was a time where I ‘felt pretty’ too. Glad my parents didn’t jump to any rash conclusions!”

Snider then praised his fellow rocker’s analysis: “Well said.”

You know what? There was a time where I "felt pretty" too. Glad my parents didn't jump to any rash conclusions! Well said, @PaulStanleyLivehttps://t.co/G80uNyzD7M— Dee Snider???????????? (@deesnider) May 1, 2023

Snider also elaborated on his point of view as he addressed responses expressing outrage or disappointment with his tweet.

In one instance, Snider appeared to clarify that his main opposition to trans ideology centers around parents pushing their children to transition: “Parents need to be less reactionary; Right and Left. No need to steer the child in either direction. Let the kid figure it out for themselves knowing their family is supportive.”

I'm not, Elle. Parents need to be less reactionary; Right and Left. No need to steer the child in either direction. Let the kid figure it out for themselves knowing their family is supportive.

Snider’s agreement with Stanley appears to have cost him the opportunity to perform at this year’s San Francisco Pride parade. San Francisco Pride announced on its Facebook page Wednesday that it was prepared to reveal “Twisted Sister’s ‘We’re not gonna take it’ as the unofficial rallying cry of this year’s SF Pride Parade & Celebration, with the band’s frontman Dee Snider performing the song on our center stage.”

Noting that “Dee has always been a vocal supporter of LGBTQ+ rights,” the LGBT activist group described its reaction as “heartbroken and angry” upon learning that “Dee expressed support for Kiss’s Paul Stanley’s transphobic statement.”

After decrying the tweet for casting “doubt on young people’s ability to self-identify their gender,” San Francisco Pride said it had “mutually agreed to part ways” with Snider.

The group concluded by expressing its appreciation for “Dee seeing this as a teachable moment and a reminder that even allies need to be educated to ensure that they are not casually promoting transphobia.”

Snider reacted to the fallout with San Francisco Pride by pushing back on the idea that he was transphobic in an Instagram post on Friday. He shared his disappointment that his “lifetime of supporting the transgender community’s right to identify as they want and honoring whatever changes they make in how they present themselves to the world isn’t enough” because of his belief that “young children are not ready to decide their gender allocation.”

The rocker declined to back down from his position: “I believe their choices should be supported and accepted by their parents, but I do not think kids have the mental capabilities to make rational, logical decisions on things of a magnitude that will affect them for the rest of their lives. I do not believe they are mentally developed enough.”

Snider concluded by delivering a message to the LGBT community, whom he regards as his allies: “The transgender community needs moderates who support their choices, even if we don’t agree with every one of their edicts. For some transgender people (not all) to accuse supporters, like me, of transphobia is not a good look for their cause. Don’t reject people who are willing to march, sing and stand with you just because we don’t perfectly see eye-to-eye. We are still your allies.”

3. Rob Schneider

Rob Schneider, an actor and comedian who has appeared in a number of Adam Sandler movies after the two worked together on “Saturday Night Live,” has established himself as a critic of the Democratic Party in recent years.

Reacting to an April 19 Twitter post by outspoken female athlete Riley Gaines sharing video footage of female athlete Payton McNabb “getting spiked in the face by a male competing with the women” and testimony she gave about the incident, Schneider declared “This s--- has to stop.”

“If the parents, coaches and ‘women’ athletes ALL REFUSE TO PLAY against these MEN…IT ALL STOPS!” he exclaimed. Additional posts retweeted by Schneider in recent weeks illustrate that the actor and comedian also has reservations about the push to irreversible damage youth suffering from gender dysphoria by drugging them with puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones or castrating them.

In an April 4 tweet, Schneider shared a video of the director of Boston Children’s Hospital’s Gender Multispecialty Service insisting that “a child will often know that they are transgender from the moment that they have any ability to express themselves,” citing examples of children “trying on [an opposite sex] sibling’s clothing” and “playing with ‘opposite gender’ toys” as well as girls “trying to stand to urinate.” Schneider pushed back on this suggestion by remarking that “if kids put their arms sideways and run around the room they might be airplanes!”

In an appearance on “The Glenn Beck Podcast” last year, Schneider described the increasing number of children who identify as a member of the opposite sex as a “social contagion.” He asked, “How can we decide to let them mutilate their bodies and who are these evil people that are committing this?”

“This is a crime against humanity,” he declared.

4. Anne Robinson

Anne Robinson, a British television personality best known for hosting the game show “The Weakest Link” in both the United Kingdom and the U.S., weighed in on LGBT issues in an interview with The Telegraph last year. The longtime game show host answered the question inquiring “What is a woman” with a blunt response proclaiming: “A woman is someone with a vagina.”

Robinson’s comment came not long after Ketanji Brown Jackson, whom President Joe Biden successfully nominated to the U.S. Supreme Court last year, refused to “provide a definition for the word ‘woman’” during her confirmation hearings. Jackson informed Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., that she could not define the term because she was “not a biologist.”

Additionally, Robinson addressed another concern of female athletes, and that is sharing a locker room with men and seeing their exposed genitalia. “I’m horrified by the lack of safety in women’s changing rooms, in swimming pools and that sort of thing,” she said.

Robinson also took issue with the phenomenon of parents “taking their unhappy children to the Tavistock [gender clinic]” and embracing the idea that their child was born in the wrong body and therefore needs gender reassignment surgery. “How do you know that’s what it is?” she asked.

Stanley, Snider, Schneider, and Robinson have good talking points to support their reluctance to allow children to board the trans mutilation train.
