resident Joe Biden tripped as he walked down the stairs of the Itsukushima Shrine on Friday in his rush to greet Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
The president was running late - all the other G7 leaders had arrived on Miyajima Island and were waiting on him to begin the tour of the holy site - when he stumbled and caught himself before he fell.
He and Kishida continued on as if the slip didn't happen, joining the rest of the heads of state to see the iconic 'floating' torii gate. The evening on the famous island, known for its wild deer, capped the end of a long first day of the summit.
After the tour, the world leaders - the heads of the United States, Japan, Canada, Italy, France, German, the United Kingdom and European Union - had a private dinner on the island.
But Biden, 80, left that dinner early. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the 'plan' was for the president to receive an update from his debt ceiling negotiation team back in Washington where it is now morning.
Biden who is the oldest U.S. president, has faced and dismissed questions about his age, particularly as he campaigns for a second term in the White House.
His doctor has declared him healthy and fit to serve but has conceded the president's gait is 'stiff.' Biden has tripped before - twice boarding Air Force One: one in March 2023 and in March 2021.
Earlier in the day, Biden needed guidance when he fumbled for a spot during a photo op with Kishida and their wives.
He could simply be suffering from jet lag. The president arrived in Hiroshima on Thursday, held separate meetings with U.S. troops and Kishida, and then headed to his hotel.

“He could simply be suffering from jet lag.” How do you spell jet lag? D-E-M-E-N-T-I-A.
Perhaps its time for stumblin’, mumblin’, sleepy dementia Joe to get a chair lift.
Looks like hell...don’t think he’ll make it through the 4 years. Now if we can get rid of Kamila...guess who is next...
A swift kick in the arse would be better.
The phony “President” can room with Fetterman and Feinstein at the rest home.
Comedy in this country--having been canceled by the Woke Movement--is ripe for a comeback!
They’ll need 1 more to make up a bridge party.
Depends on the circumstances. But in general, the Speaker of the House.
Ha! He paused at the top of the stairs and looked at it like he was going down a double black diamond at Crested Butte.
Get Kamala in there. She is s rock star genius.
This needs to be looped and then have “Hail to the Chief” playing (along with the sound of banging metal trash cans..)
Not in General...Next IS the Speaker of the House.
Screw Joe. Even Jimmy Buffet is having problems
Jimmy Buffett went to the doctor but wound up in the hospital. The singer said he had an issue that required immediate attention and is postponing a concert scheduled for Saturday.
Currently, there are no other dates on Buffett’s 2023 calendar. The nature of his health problem has not been shared, but on Facebook, he jokes that “growing old is not for sissies.”
A rescheduled date for the May 20 show in Charleston, South Carolina, has not been announced. Buffett was in Boston when he was admitted into the hospital. Last September, he canceled or postponed all remaining 2022 concerts after being hospitalized.
“Two days ago,” the “Margaritaville” singer wrote on Facebook that he “was just back from a trip to the Bahamas, thawing out from the California ‘winter tour’ and chomping at the bit to get to Charleston. I had to stop in Boston for a check-up but wound up back in the hospital to address some issues that needed immediate attention.”

He just took delivery on a new yacht, hope he gets to enjoy it.
I am surprised they have not found a way to get rid of camel toe so that they could install Hillary as VP. I don’t think Joe’s going to last until the next election.
But the Durham report is not going to help her
Hahahahaha!
