Real estate prices are soaring — if you can even find the home you want. Reservations at pricey Avra and Carbone are hard to score. And private-school admissions have become cutthroat.

Miami really is the new New York City.

The Florida city’s top private schools — already bursting at the seams from the throngs of New Yorkers and others who have migrated south since the beginning of the pandemic — are now facing an even bigger shortfall as billionaire hedge-funders and private equity titans compete to enroll their kids.

Escaping from New York and "beleaguered Chicago"? I wonder how many have "celebrate diversity" stickers on their autos.

Surprisingly few - some, but hardly any believe it or not.

These people are refugees from blue cities running away. Most are conservative or converts.

Sucks that they made Florida so expensive and more crowded, but they helped us turn the state red.

I used to research private schools.

I came to believe the whole education system is outdated.

“These people are refugees from blue cities running away.”

Unless an area works economically for all that work hard, it will turn blue.

I don’t believe in paying astronomical prices for housing.

Within ten years the Democrats will flood Florida with welfare lovers from all over the globe and the state will get an income tax.

In my youth, Connecticut and New Jersey did not have state income taxes.

“I came to believe the whole education system is outdated.”

Not only outdated, but fully-infiltrated and corrupted by liberals, leftists, socialists, communists, Marxists, anarchists, BLMers, abortionists, pedophiles etc etc etc. Has been since the 60s, and it’s 1,000x worse today. Glad I got thru it all, plus college, without being subjected to it.

A certain percentage of children have the potential to be geniuses. If you look at the citizen scientists of seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries they mostly have one thing in common. They had tutors. They did not go to one of the schools set up to train workers for the Industrial Revolution. Those schools, which our entire public school system was modeled on had the purpose of creating docile, compliant drones who would sit for hours doing some mindless tasks. Any child in early education who demonstrates abilities beyond the average is beaten down by the system because it is not designed to handle exceptional people. The number of geniuses has so declined under modern education that you never hear or read about them. By the time they graduate they have lost their potential. (If you’re a black genius you will literally get beaten up for “acting white.” A science teacher at a local high school witnessed this after he complimented a black student who was getting all A’s. The student was gone for week afterwards as he’d been severely beaten after class. He never turned in another paper and marked random answers on tests after that.)

We are seeing similar things in high end areas of Phoenix.
There was a bit of a dip but Scottsdale and PV are moving back up.

Welcome.

Hope you were able to deal with the insane housing inflation.
