The caveat is, that once you watch it, you are going to end up having in the back of your mind what a fragile electronically based existence we all live, and that it could all be taken down by a natural event unless we prepare (which we won't)
Kind of like a lifelong Californian who lives on the San Andreas Fault. You know it is going to happen some day, the big one. It is a natural event. It is inevitable. But perhaps you will be dead already when it happens, and anyway, you have to get over to the Walmart to buy some more grass seed for your yard...
A Carrington Event or even bigger, like the one mentioned in 775 AD, would definitely put us all back to 1800 or so.
No computers, except the ones protected well underground and shielded, no satellites, no internet, no electrical power grid..............................
I have to disagree. There IS something we can do about it, is isn’t just a scare. Watch the documentary I linked above.
He isn’t talking necessarily about a supernova which we obviously can’t do anything about, and there is no point in worrying about that.
He is talking about EMP, either man caused (by war or terrorism) or a natural event such as the Carrington Event (1859) and those things, we CAN do something about.
As I said in my post, there is something we can do to protect against EMP, and it is small money (relatively speaking) but knowing human nature (and politicians) as I do...we probably won’t.
And EMP from war or terrorism or a natural event IS far, Far, FAR more of a danger to us than idiotic “climate change”. It isn’t even close. Not even the same universe, because EMP is a fact, and idiotic climate change is a hoax.
Tubes, predecessor to transistors, are impervious to EMP.
Semiconductors can be shielded from EMP and radiation, but only with Lead and Beryllium Oxide, a nasty substance.
Power generators can be protected but would have to be shielded and not in use when the event occurs.
Yes, we could protect our equipment from such an event, but unless the politicians, like the Bidens and Clintons, can make some grift from it it won’t happen............

We are in not necessarily in danger of losing all the knowledge humans have accumulated during our time on this planet because, unless all libraries get burned to the ground when it happens to an unprepared world that goes into an orgy of violence when EVERYTHING we depend on in our daily lives is taken away in one fell swoop, we will still have some way, somehow to access that knowledge.
What we are in danger of is destroying ourselves in that orgy of violence, crime, starvation, deprivation, and nearly 100% guaranteed, war.
And burning down our depositories of knowledge in the process.
Thing is-most people-even highly educated people-absolutely do not realize the razor’s edge we live on, being so dependent on electricity for EVERYTHING.
Everything. No running water. No food. No transportation. No communication. Nothing is exempt.
If we had a Carrington Event today...I don’t want to see it. We are so mentally unprepared for that.
Not to mention the effects on people and animals.
Cancers would be rampant................
If, as some measurements indicate, the earth’s magnetic field is weakening, it will not take an event nearly the size of a Carrington to produce a similar degree of disruption.

Exactly. It CAN be done, we CAN protect against it (the military does it with its hardware and has been for years) but we should be using idiotic “climate change” money being thrown by the bucketful into the pockets of grifters and charlatans at all levels to implement EMP protection instead of climate change stupidity.

Obviously, solar eruptions are man-caused. The only solution is global communism. More specifically, we are being mean to Mother Gaia and the Sun gets upset. If we don’t stop being mean with all this capitalism stuff, the Sun will get very angry. The Sun is somewhat patient. Another 12 years of meanness to Mother Gaia and the Sun will lose its patience and destroy all mankind. We have to institute one world government and ban all meanness.
