DeSantis Says Trump’s SCOTUS Picks Fall Short Of ‘Gold Standard’
The Daily Caller ^ | 12Jun | Walker

Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis raised eyebrows Monday with his apparent criticism of former President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court appointments.

The Florida governor stated on the Hugh Hewitt Show that Donald Trump’s picks for the Supreme Court — Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett — pale in comparison to Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. DeSantis then claimed that although he appreciates the work of all three, he would select more ideologically conservative justices as president

1. This man is living in fantasy land.

2. Whoever is coaching him is doing a marvelous job convincing him that he can do anything. Especially like he does in Florida with Republicans across the board. Oh wait. Most of the US Congress and the Deep State are hard core Leftists and getting worse by the day, but he has his magic dust that will fix all of that, because none of anything happens if the Democrats retain control of the Senate.

3. I'm betting that Schumer, or whoever takes his place, will have a thing or two to say about who get any vacant seat on the court.

How does someone polling at 17% confuse himself with a former president?

This is a typical distortion. What he said was that he likes all of President Trump’s Supreme Court picks, but the best justices are Thomas and Alito. Anyone want to argue that?

Well I do agree that Thomas and Alito are the most conservative members of the court. What Trump did that was good was he appointed the 5th conservative justice, which was more of a coincidence than anything Trump did to accomplish it. It’s just a question of which justices resign or die on his watch.

Did DeSantis come up with a more conservative option at the time of the vacancies or is this just Monday Morning Quarterbacking?

From the article....

Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett — pale in comparison to Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. DeSantis then claimed that although he appreciates the work of all three, he would select more ideologically conservative justices as president.

Where did he say that he “likes all of President Trump’s Supreme Court picks”?

Also from the article...

“In Florida, I inherited a very liberal state supreme court, maybe the most liberal in the country, very activist,” DeSantis told Hewitt.

“I was able to replace three of the four liberals my first month in office with conservative justices,” DeSantis added. “I’ve since been able to make a number of appointments since then. So we now have the most conservative state supreme court in the country. And so I think we have a really good track record on doing that.”

Pres Trump also inherited a liberal Supreme Court and shifted the balance to Conservatives, thus negating Roberts as the wild card, who took the place of that clown Kennedy.

And, again, DeSantis did all of that with a veto proof Republican legislature, Republican control in all but 3 counties, a strong Republican voter base. Basically, Republicans control EVERYTHING in Florida. A 4 yr old could do what he did with that kind of support.

He won’t have that luxury in DC, not that he’ll ever get within a mile of the WH anyway.

What was the name of the ventriloquists’ partner? Charlie McCarthy.

I think he’s creeping toward that. Just saying what he’s told to say by Griffin and the rest of his handlers.

Instead, the wild card is a Trump appointee, Justice Kavanaugh. Some of us said that would be the case when he was nominated. Reportedly, he was Justice Kennedy’s pick to succeed him.

He’s not totally wrong in Trump allowing Anthony Kennedy to select his successor, Kav.

Wow, DeSantis is even correct about this! Spot on! Good for him. He seems to have it together on every issue. Even where we saw Trump was woefully weak and or stupid.

Terrible judgement on appointments, both political and Judicial. And we are paying for it.

couldn’t agree more with DeSantis.

Trumps three picks have been singularly disappointing and disastrously so.

So Ronnie, please explain why Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee, with the help of some Rinos, anally probed each, and every one of Trump’s nominees during the hearings?

I’m pretty sure that they are voting to kill the Alabama voting bill.

Typical deep staters. It was fine for the Dems to gerrymander to their hearts content. But after Gingrich 94 turnaround and the state legislatures reversals back to GOP, Jurists and Supreme Court are killing GOP efforts to reverse this nonsense.
