Will there be any huge celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 2026, the 250th Anniversary?
Wow.
I am a history buff, and honestly...I had never thought about this...but I think only because the country is so changed that we might just see protests and the banning of celebrations because it might offend someone.
Wow. That I can even think that breaks my heart.
I’ve heard a few rumblings
But unless we get a GOP president you know it’s going to be a disaster. A year-long recognition of how we suck as a nation and are yet ally stained with slavery and inequality, blah blah blah. Even with a GOP president that will be the tone of a lot of state observances
I would expect some commemorative coinage, but haven’t heard anything.
The answer is yes, and it will be a BIG deal. But, lots to happen for the next 3 years... in fact, I expect that 7/4/2026 will feel like 1776 all over again.
And, furthermore, nationwide celebrations will start up a year prior (consider, the shot heard around the world at the Old North Bridge was 4/19/1775).
Check out DJT’s 1776 commission.
“The 1776 Commission, also nicknamed the 1776 Project, was an advisory committee established in September 2020 by then-U.S. President Donald Trump to support what he called “patriotic education”. The commission released The 1776 Report on January 18, 2021, two days before the end of Trump’s term.”
Remember the “Bicentennial Minute “ commercials on I think CBS?
I’m guessing that the big plan for 2026 will involve weeping, gnashing of teeth, rending of clothes, and pouring ashes on our heads in penance for the slavery caused by the American Revolution. So, you know, same as this year, really.
Forget it. There will be nothing left of the USA in 2026, After the dimshits rigg the next election. The best we can expect will be a gay pride parade down Pennsylvania Ave.

With the foreign sewage running around getting elected to Congress and destroying everything American, I doubt this country will see a tricentennial. The Dung Beetle Party is accusing Republicans of trying to destroy what they call their “american democrazy” when they are the turd rollers trying to destroy America and turn it over to foreign sewage who will vote for them.
Yep, it will be a celebration of the successes so far and the challenges we still face in overcoming the old white America, and those of its members who still trouble and hold us back today, as our new population is finally leading America to its true potential and fulfillment of its dreams that were held back and corrupted by America’s centuries of whiteness.
“Triquinquagenarial”, “Trisemicentennial” or “Trihalf-century” just don’t have a “ring” to their names! ;-) I think the “Tricentennial” in 2076 will be a bigger deal (if the USA makes it that far).
My parents, brother and I (age 15) went down to Stockton, CA to see “The American Freedom Train” which was celebrating the bicentennial over 2 years of train station stops:

and

I have a Bicentennial flag I inherited from my Dad. It was a cool celebration. Then Carter got elected. The beginning of the end.
I do recall the Bicentennial Minute. We traveled to celebrate the 4th with relatives in Northern New Jersey and went to see the Tall Ship Parade on the Hudson River.
Who knows, I’d hit my three-score and ten, not that far off, sounds like fun! I enjoyed our Bicentennial, so why not? Yeesh, 20 yo back then, where’d it go? Oh yeah, I remember, but still havin’ a good time...
We went to the 1776-1976 Freedom Train, it had Dorothy’s ruby red slippers, the Declaration of Independence.
What I recall most vividly—the shoes. *shrug, I like shiny things*
I have lately been wondering the same.
