Actually I think it was Charlie Chaplin, Pickford and Fairbanks who “created” Hollywood in 1919.
It existed before Chaplin got there but UA was where they threw real $$$ at it.

Lest you forget Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd. Keaton and Harold Lloyd appeal to my sense of humor more so than Chaplin.
Chaplin had a sixth sense about a lot of things. In 1927 and 1928 for instance, he began to feel that the stock market was going mad, and he took everything he had and put it into Canadian gold.
Charlie called himself an anarchist. He was always fascinated with people of the left.

Thomas Edison was instrumental in the creation of the Hollywood film industry.
He invented many of the most important components needed to make a motion picture, and held the patents on still more. Then he created the Motion Picture Patent Company and invcentivized the owners of all the other components (like Eastman Kodak, which owned the patent on raw film stock) to join. Which gave him a virtual monopoly on the motion picture business (at least on the east coast). And if the courts were slow to enforce Edison’s insistence on being paid royalties for outsiders using his patented products, he hired gangsters to speed up the process.
So independent film makers fled New York and environs for southern California, where communication with the east was slow, travel by Washington officials was slower, and judges were notably lenient about enforcing eastern-held patents for fear it would quash local economic development.
If not for Edison’s tight-fistedness, the film industry today might still be headquartered in NYC or Orange, NJ.
What would poor Uncle Walt think of the fact that the Episcopals are now a Satanic Sodomite cult: the Church of the High Holy Anus and the Sainted Rectal Prolapse. Just like Disney is today.

OK. Never researched Walt’s official religion. Sadly, yes, “Congregationalist Christian” has also partly become a Satanic Sodomite cult. A photo of a Vermont (ex-)church prominently features the Sodomite Flag on its front. To see something so vile and disgusting on a “Christian” building is as ugly as seeing a Nazi or Soviet flag. Absolute anathema to God.
